Sunderland travel to the Hill-Dickinson Stadium to face Everton in the Premier League.
Last time out Sunderland drew with Manchester United and Everton drew with Palace
Sunderland were denied a rare win over Manchester United as visiting keeper Senne Lammens and the frame of the goal combined to keep the hosts at bay at the Stadium of Light. Noah Sadiki wasted Sunderland's best chance when he ran clear in the opening minutes. Lammens came out on top on that occasion, before the Belgian bravely dashed out to save at Brian Brobbey's feet and then keep out another effort from the Dutchman in the second half. Brobbey also set up Lutsharel Geertruida in the final stages, but his effort from the edge of the area thudded against the foot of a post.
It was harsh on Sunderland, on a day when Manchester United showed five changes to the side that beat Liverpool last week and toiled without veteran midfielder Casemiro.

Everton went ahead when Tarkowski shot home from close range after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's corner from the right was flicked on to the back post.
Sarr got the hosts level at Selhurst Park in the 34th minute when his deflected effort on the rebound found its way past Jordan Pickford.
A long pass from Tarkowski put Beto on the ball and running towards goal. The striker managed to hold off Maxence Lacroix before turning the Palace defender and sliding the ball through the legs of Eagles goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Palace pushed for an equaliser and it came when Everton failed to deal with a Tyrick Mitchell cross, with the ball reaching the feet of Mateta who powered his shot over Pickford and into the top of the goal.

Regis le Bris:
"We created enough changes to win the game but chances does not mean goals, when we got those big chances and the momentum we were not clinical enough, the Premier League is demanding and when you don't score you are always on the edge but overall I thought the lads did well"
"We have many young lads, so it's about experience and maturity, for example Noah in the first-half was brilliant but probably not a usual situation for him so I think he wasn't so confident but it's going to be a good platform for the future."
"It was important to be back on our foundations, our standards, I think during the last two weeks the boys were excellent during the training sessions, they were committed with a strong togetherness and we are always hard to beat with this positive mindset and it's good for the future."

David Moyes:
Asked about supporters fearing another season-long struggle, he said: "Well, they would probably be right.
"That's where they've been every other year for the last four years, so why would it suddenly change?"
"I don't think you can hide the facts. People will be flat because they are hoping that something is going to dramatically change - it can't dramatically change, it can't."

My two pence:
Ballard is still suspended.
I think I still hate David Moyes more than any other ex-Sunderland manager. I’d love us to win there again and see his ugly face squirm.
And another thing - it can change David - Oh yes it can.

I’m going for a 2-1 away win.
Good luck to all those travelling to this one.

Ha’way the Lads
That team is strong. I doubt Traore will start because Le Bris is an ‘ease in’ kind of bloke but i’d love him to be back fully.

Top thread again RTB to set the scene, thank you.

The performance level against Man U has set the standard and having a nearly full squad to choose from is a bonus. Everton are a tall, physical side and Ballard would have been very handy. Their aerial threat is significant. We are a handful for any team when the passing is on point - move Everton's big lumps around and get them turned round.

Our RW and their LW looks like a key battle. Who comes out on top there could swing the contest.

There’s some clubs/fans which are good and some not so good. Where do Everton rank on this.

I would guess they are quite high on the list of being good guys.
They have embraced Bradley Lowry and have done a lot of good work there.
They are a similar type of club as us, not in the top six, sometimes struggling a bit and sometimes comfortable.
They haven’t had our recent journey down and up the leagues but look at Leicester, it could happen.

Do we have some kind of league or ranking for other clubs.
I think we had some kind of friendly thing going on with Norwich but it never really took off.

I also don’t know if we (meaning me) lean towards Celtic or Rangers

I’m rarely nervous about our games but I am with this.

These next two games could make a huge difference to how we regard the season and how we enjoy the summer. My expectation was survival, my hope was top half and my wish was finishing above Newcastle.

Now we’ve achieved the first aim and so close to the other two it would be disappointing to miss out after everything. I know we’re not supposed to jinx things, by mentioning Newcastle, but that’s my focus now.

I was hoping Leeds would scupper Spurs and give West Ham the hope of avoiding relegation by winning at SJP … that happened. Now Eddie Howe is talking about the game being part of his future planning as he braces himself for an exodus of players.

A West Ham win would be a massive boost for our chances with the added bonus of ruining the last home match for the Mags. It would be good to see the likes of Gordon, Tonali, etc. waving their goodbyes to a half empty SJP.

And, being greedy, could also help push Spurs through the trapdoor, ha’way!!!
