Very easy to blow millions on a player who doesn't go on to prove his worth, on the other hand some players step up and become steady if not standout performers in the PL after we sold them. Boyd and Brady come to mind (could be completelywrong on that though)
Omari Hutchinson, sold in two windows for £22.5 million and then £37.5 million.... looks way way off that value to me... I hope we have the gonads to hang onto Mo Belloumi whatever... we could be talking telephone numbers once he's fit...

I’ve seen him play well exactly once and that’s when he scored twice at the MKM for Ipswich. Every time I’ve seen him since for Ipswich and Forest in the Prem, he’s looked ****e.

His improvement/development in 2 years is outstanding.

While I think his range of passing has gone up a notch this season I don't think he's wildly different to the player he was two years ago. He definitely regressed a lot last year as a lot of players did in a poorly performing side, but some of the criticism was way over the top.

Got to disagree, everything about his game has improved 10x this year. Not just the mental aspects like his willingness to try things and reading the game, which has probably improved the most. But even his touch is a lot better and far more consistent, his close ball control is better, his passing accuracy and the weight of them is much better, he’s winning far more challenges. He’s really had a proper breakthrough season which I for one would never have predicted, I thought he was very ordinary, always a big trier but coming up short for skill and quick thinking.

I'd want to look at some of his games in that Rosenior season as I thought he had quite a few very strong games that year too. Scored more goals too.

He did but inconsistently. He was a passenger a lot of the time. The goals I’d put down to the difference in role he was playing, rosenior played him in advanced roles most the time, even in the wing. He’s been our holding midfielder this year so he’s going to have had a lot less opportunities to get in to dangerous positions in the box.

Perhaps, and like I said I do agree he's stepped up this year, I just think that people were very coloured by a down year coupled with a lot of poor misses that he had last season. Hell I remember back to his debut season for us in L1 where he looked a terrific holding midfielder when he stepped in for Smallwood so that potential was always there with him.

Thats definitely whats been missing from him this year... a better player for sure, if he scored goals too he'd be worth lots and Sheffield United wouldn't have a sniff.

My biggest criticism with Slater was always that he seemed to be hiding rather than making himself available for the ball. Hes completely transformed this season, week in week out all over the pitch and demanding the ball.
100%, he used to hide behind opposition midfielders but this season he's really gained the confidence to get on the ball deep and make things happen, and has done some corking Pirlo-esque 50 yard balls

Big problem we would have if we get promotion is that we will be behind the rest in plans , also as we have so many loans and v few players with effective prem quality I could see a tough road ahead unless we get lucky an d find inexpensive gems . Otherwise everything is on track !

The only loan we’d want back is Geldhart anyway. I think we have half a team/squad and key positions already pretty strong.
