This could also be EFL trying to appease Boro. Gibson has probably heavily lent on his contacts in the EFL, so they are arse covering to say "hey look we can change it"

In my worst case scenario - there may be a paper trail back to someone senior (probably JS) and that they're trying to work out if it's legally feasible to sanction us on a discussed strategy with no proof of us acting on it other than the Boro thing. I fear that will mean the end of Spors which could roll back into Tonda walking (into a job in Germany) in a Cortese/Poch style (frankly, that's always been my biggest fear from the beginning).
If they think they can sanction us on that, and aren't pacified by a major head rolling, then yeah, we could get kicked out of the final. Either way, not great, and if JS goes I do wonder if SR can survive that.

There is one solution which would satisfy Boro, us and Hull. And most of the country.
Promote both Boro and the play-off winner.
Relegate both Spurs and West Ham.

SR own the club and can just hire someone new. What is there to survive ? They survived hiring Will Still.

Honestly, whoever is proved to have sanctioned the kid to go up there should resign or be sacked from their position. They have brought shame and embarrassment on to the club however trivial their motives were.
Having said that this may well be a common practise in Germany and maybe they weren't expecting the fallout if caught out.
