I know mate, I remember that Windass goal clearly. Made me feel old as **** when the commentator pointed out the other night that it was 18 years ago.
I was talking about this last night with my mate
And looking back at our Wembley appearances
How I’ve changed (not a bit cough)
Gone from taking my little lad with me and mates and running up Wembley way
Then a bigger lad against arsenal and mates
Then wensdee and mates who’d stopped going
And now lost quite a few mates
Lad who’s bigger than me
And now me thinking hope there aren’t a lot of steps my knees are killing me
And wondering if there’ll be anymore Wembley appearances in my lifetime

Enjoy it win or lose it doesn’t happen often

I’m old enough to remember Bobby Stokes getting your winner 1976 cup final<laugh><laugh>
I was posted to Matchwood (where the Saints training ground is) in 1975 and have lived nearby ever since. My mate wrote to Southampton and lied to them saying that he couldn't get a ticket because he was in Northern Ireland when they went on sale and they sent him two.
Ian Turner the Saints FA Cup keeper lived round the corner from me (he probably still does). In fact quite a few players used to live near me, but at the time, I wouldn't recognise them as I never watched any football.

I look back in very similar ways Chazz. The tension of the last 3 minutes against Bristol and then the realisation that we had only gone and done it, is a treasured memory.
My Grandson who has been a City mascot when he was about 5 years old, is now a season pass holder at Southampton, I can't blame him for it and he was the first to congratulate me on Friday.
Wembley days are some of my best football memories.

Like to hear a good blag story. Old grounds long gone now for both of us. What’s there thoughts on playing us in the final?

Good post Chazz.
Took my lad to the Fa cup semi and final when he was 10. Now 22 , north stand regular, going down with his mates and exciting as hell. Love to see it as he has become me with my mates going to City. Hope your lad is going in the same form.

Presumably VAR will be used for the game like it was last year. Seems a bit **** that there's only one Championship game it gets used for, hopefully we don't get ****ed over by it.

Never been at a live game where it was used, I reckon the experience in the ground is terrible when they're faffing about drawing lines or whatever they do with it.

I hate to say it but you're absolutely correct. It's ****ing horrific at a live game.

One of the biggest reasons I won't be too disappointed if you beat us.

I hope the spy’s don't use the postcode of the training ground, don’t think it takes to the ground.
Back in the day Southampton used to sponsor Northwood Club in Cottingham which was only a good goal kick away from the current training ground. They were a top team in the Hull Sunday League and from memory I think Saints found one player locally, Harry Somebody?
Point is I wonder if they still have any scouts living in Cottingham?

I honestly thought fa cup final would be the best it got supporting city in my life, thought after 2016 we wouldn't get a Wembley appearance again. Still can't quite believe it.
