Just watched the highlights and didn't show the Larin penalty shout. Looked much more like a pen to me at the time than the Leo one which I thought was him going down too easy as usual.

Those who watched on TV was the Larin one a pen?
It would have been a soft penalty. Seen them given, seen them not given. The referee just didn't want to give a penalty for anyone.

Ross Stewart had a bigger shout by almost having his shirt ripped off him.

The YouTube highlights I saw I had them all as pens. Think there were 4. Disagree about Leo, that was a clear foul with no attempt to play the ball. All those get given with VAR I reckon. Katrina probably the least of them.
Personally o thought it was great that there were none. Kept us all honest. No accusations of favoritism to add to everything else.

Thought Larin's was in real time but slowed down it wasn't. Think Scienzas was a decent shout. Stewart getting the shirt pulled off him first half was most clear cut for me. Matsuki should have conceded two. The first one was weird as they made little protest but it defo was a peno

I wonder if it being a PL ref used to having VAR had an impact on him on not wanting to give one.
Looking back I think the ref was pretty cautious throughout, probably as much due to the nature of the game than anything else.

VAR would have given a shedload of penalties in that game, we had 3 solid shouts at least and they probably had 2 (I dont think Matsuki's handball was a pen, but it is something I could see VAR giving).

Probably would have. All the better to not have it when it's a game like last night imo.

I hate to have a moan after last night but can we please please please bin the goal music off next season?

It's so ****ing tacky and ****e and would be much better to just hear the crowd noise when watching it back.
It was a bit annoying when the Northam in full cry got drowned out by that pointless light show. Also the lack of "spy music" was disappointing.

Unfortunately the furore that the north east reporters and Boro fans have created with the collective foaming climax of rage over the past week has fed into the national media and social media football accounts, it is just a full on witch hunt now whereby the slightest thing that would not normally catch attention can set the whole rabid bunch of them off again. The narrative has been written and it will be the entire country against us winning the final now. Not including Hull fans in that as they'd obviously be against us regardless. Albeit a siege mentality could be to our benefit.
I'm starting to feel like the bigger deal Boro make of it the less of a big deal it really is.

All they have is a kid with a phone filming their training session from a golf course who deleted what he had. Boro don't know what was recorded. The kid didn't identify himself.

So, what can Boro use from the 2 games that would say Saints had an advantage?

For all the furore and worry surrounding the game, last night proved an absolute blast and a great spectacle. I've been an ST for over 15 years and a Saints fan for way longer and it's nights like last night that make it all worth it.

In the last few years, as my boys have got older (now 13 and 10), my wife and I got them STs as well. She comes too. They put up with the dross of last season and never wavered as Saints fans. We all went to Wembley for the cup SF which was the first time for them. They loved that and it showed them just how amazing being a Saints fan CAN be ...

Last night topped it!

Their sheer excitement and celebrations were mental, sharing it with friends and family and fellow fans - that feeling of togetherness with your city and club which plastics and glory hunters will never feel or understand.

UTS!

In the PL it is, but we’re not in that yet. So difficult to say.

Guardian match report says “File that one under ‘seen them given’ “
