so who would we prefer?

I want Southampton to be expelled from the play-offs because Spygate 2 was such blatant cheating, and it came after the new rules were all introduced so they have no excuse. However, I guess I'd prefer Boro win the second leg because otherwise Gibson will go in all guns blazing legally, perhaps even seeking an injunction to stop the final taking place until the whole mess is sorted out. Which could affect us mentally. In footballing terms, though, we're capable of beating either of them based on last night's performance. It doesn't mean we will, but we have at least a fifty fifty chance against either of them.
I think Southampton will beat Boro tonight, they had their chance on Saturday at home and couldn't get there.Feels like we always struggle against Boro even when we win, and beat Southampton quite comfortable quite often. So Southampton. Plus I find Boro fans annoying and have a higher potential to be ****s around the ground and going there and back, especially as we'd be going the same way.
For those interested in Spygate 2 (and I think it's fascinating, because I don't think Boro will let it drop or allow the EFL to come up with some wishy washy fine) there's a very good podcast here from the Northern EchoYou must log in or register to see media
I think that is very unlikely because the Leeds fine was BEFORE a specific rule was introduced banning such activities. Leeds' fine was for unsporting behaviour or similar. You can be certain that if Southampton win, Boro will not let this drop. Gibson has fought for promotion for so long and is by all accounts a pretty decent owner. They will be legalled up to the nines and they will push for expulsion, and -- to be honest -- that is the only fair outcome. That might play into our hands. Boro would be coming into the final on the back of a loss ...Leeds got a £200k fine for pretty much doing the same thing, so it's likely they'll get a similar penalty.
Southampton win and then kicked out a week later would be nice. Either give us a bye in the final or draft in Boro after a week of not training
It sure is spicyBoro's manager has planned for them to continue training upto the final, even if they lose. In case Southampton get kicked out

Southampton have 14 days to respond, starting 4 days ago, if they kicked Southampton out (assuming they won tonight), it would leave Boro only a a day to sort ticket sales, that's not going to happen.I think that is very unlikely because the Leeds fine was BEFORE a specific rule was introduced banning such activities. I thought they already had responded, basically admitting the charge - but allegedly they are claiming the spy was acting without the club’s authority. A claim which — if he’s an employee — is clearly untenable.Southampton have 14 days to respond, starting 4 days ago, if they kicked Southampton out (assuming they won tonight), it would leave Boro only a a day to sort ticket sales, that's not going to happen.
They're trying to fast-track it, but it doesn't sound like there's much chance of Southampton being kicked out of the play-offs...I thought they already had responded, basically admitting the charge - but allegedly they are claiming the spy was acting without the club’s authority.
