That was a great game, could have gone either way or ended in a draw and no one could complain! to think how far we have come in such a short time is unbelievable and we are still improving. I am so proud of the reaction, commitment and determination shown not only today but all season so far by the Lads. Keep up the great work Lads. Not forgeting the Fans ! They have been so loud and amazing all season. Very Proud of You All.

Tremendous by the lads that. Bloody excellent. That's a top four side we played today and a top class manager. Bettered them in the first half and got going after their third really well .

Another right game and we're on the other end this time. Staggering progress man, we've travelled a hundred thousand miles in three hundred days.

My take on today.
Its easy to gaze at your own naval. Our defence this, Diarra that. Villa have good players, options and variations and got many bodies forward. Watkins movement is top of the league/euro class. Rogers is quality and he wasn't alone. Coming so unbelievably close to a win is admirable. We seemed a bit wide open at times which we often don't but we also looked quite threaten. Maybe it was a change of balance for us, maybe it was their overloads. Brobbey made a promising run, then went off and our runs off the last line made their strong defence look vulnerable, we had our own bodies and you know the rest. Diarra got there from good movement, Martinez is a big figure to beat.
Defensively? Its hard to say if it was out defence or their quality in many ways but i felt it was as much the overloads and won balls in midfield as it was the centre backs. The winner looked a bit soft at the back though. What a game.

Just watching goals again. Ignoring the other goals which could be defended better. What was 09 doing for the last. Before the cross is delivered he looks to be in the correct position, Yet he ends up falling over seemingly reacting a second or two after Abraham and Hume who despite being behind 09 got closest to tackling Abraham. Aldarete, Ballard and Mukiele would all read the game better, react quicker and out muscle the forward. 09 at 5.10 is not physically strong enough.
You only come on here to dig at 09. Consistently. Are you on payment by bad results?

It seems O'Nien had gotten some stick but does Hume come in for Reinildo on Friday night or was it just a bad day at the office at the back?

Yeah. People too quick to look for a scapegoat. Can't wait to to blame O'Nien for everything.

Reinildo had a poor game and was taken off, Le Fee had a poor first 80 minutes, then suddenly woke up, by then McGinn had run rings around them both. Rigg didn't track the LB for their 3rd, but played well and imo was unlucky to be hooked. Granted, O'Nien should have got goal side of Abraham for their 4th and snuffed the chance out, but by then Diarra should have killed the game off. The first 3 goals came from them getting in too easy on the flanks, but lets blame 09 eh?

Xhaka and Sadiki were excellent. Rigg is getting better with every game. Excellent finish by Isidor, who showed Diarra how to finish 1-on-1. Imo, Aldarete was our only defender to come out of the game with any credit. Even Nordi looked shaky today.

Were they just naturally poor, or were they trying to adapt to a more expansive way of playing that us fans have asked for? There's no doubt about it, we were far more open than we have been this season. Perhaps we were trying to be more on the front foot. Either way, we put in a real battling performance and gave as good as we got against a very good Villa team

I'm proud of how we performed, particularly in the first half, and how we came back into the game and I'm sure we'll come in for praise from those in Villa quarters. We've gone head to toe with an excellent Premier League side, who could well walk off with a European trophy at the end of the season and have not lost any ground to the teams above us in the race for Europe.

Bring on Forest and Wolves!

God's sake 7 mins e.t. they score in 90+3. No added on time for the celebrations
This pissed me off massively. It tpok93 seconds from their goal until we kicked off. It took 57 Amos to Ballard and their yellow. He added 40 seclnds. There should have been at least another 2 minutes. Guarantee if Diarra scored he plays until 109!!

Most of the time it is us getting a late clutch goal. Guess it was Villa's turn yesterday.
We played well but so did Villa. We competed and battled but this time the rub favoured them.
Thought the ref and his assistants were very poor today and I personally think the lack of consistency in his decision making made it difficult for players to make quick decisions.
That aside was a good game and we were unlucky not to get something from it.

Our young team are learning all the time. Yesterday they learnt Til the End means Til the END, I bet they don’t let it happen again,
Proud of everyone of them.

So the day after the night before and on reflection how can we not be proud of this team, the team that never gives up. Yes it was disappointing but to go so close to beating a champions league team and a very very good premier team in their own back yard then how can anyone not love these lads.
One thing I did notice looking back at the goals last night after le fee wins the tackle then puts a great ball through to wilson he actually puts the ball through the legs of a villa player, onana I think it was. He's fast becoming the nutmeg king

Just hope we do the same as we did Le Fee with Dirria on Friday,
no need to give him stick or abuse ( hes turned off comments on some of his posts),
he probs feel the same as us,
hes only human

it stings the defeat, we had a chance, it didnt go in, and just sods law really,

4 silly mistakes cost us the points

onto Friday night, under the lights

Not particularly upset at that result.

An enthraling Game that had it all.
A CREDIT TO BOTH TEAMS.

At the end of the game, Kevin Keegans quote , I'D RATHER LOSE 4-3 than win 1-0 came to mind.

In the cold light of day, still disappointed at the outcome but we all have to remember that we scored 3 good goals away from home. It looked like we were dead and buried at 3-1 down but the players didn't give up and got back level. We bloodied a team that more than likely is playing Champions League football next season - that's something to be positive about.

I hate how we have to have a boo boy. Back your players, back your team. How good is it that we had a midfielder making a strong run on the back line late in the game. He could have not chipped it and it still got saved, he could have chipped it and the keeper hit the deck. Fine margins. Back Diarra. Back 09.
