It seems O'Nien had gotten some stick but does Hume come in for Reinildo on Friday night or was it just a bad day at the office at the back?
Yeah. People too quick to look for a scapegoat. Can't wait to to blame O'Nien for everything.
Reinildo had a poor game and was taken off, Le Fee had a poor first 80 minutes, then suddenly woke up, by then McGinn had run rings around them both. Rigg didn't track the LB for their 3rd, but played well and imo was unlucky to be hooked. Granted, O'Nien should have got goal side of Abraham for their 4th and snuffed the chance out, but by then Diarra should have killed the game off. The first 3 goals came from them getting in too easy on the flanks, but lets blame 09 eh?
Xhaka and Sadiki were excellent. Rigg is getting better with every game. Excellent finish by Isidor, who showed Diarra how to finish 1-on-1. Imo, Aldarete was our only defender to come out of the game with any credit. Even Nordi looked shaky today.
Were they just naturally poor, or were they trying to adapt to a more expansive way of playing that us fans have asked for? There's no doubt about it, we were far more open than we have been this season. Perhaps we were trying to be more on the front foot. Either way, we put in a real battling performance and gave as good as we got against a very good Villa team
I'm proud of how we performed, particularly in the first half, and how we came back into the game and I'm sure we'll come in for praise from those in Villa quarters. We've gone head to toe with an excellent Premier League side, who could well walk off with a European trophy at the end of the season and have not lost any ground to the teams above us in the race for Europe.
Bring on Forest and Wolves!
