The Mags have been doing a pretty good job of convincing themselves that the Saudis are fully committed to NUFC.

Even I have to admit they've been incredibly patient with all the Isak debacle, terrible recruitment, league position and inertia over the stadium/training ground, etc. They've swallowed the humiliating derby defeats and the shame of the Barcelona wipe-out ...

... but you can sense this latest PIF shift has really shaken them.

Their owners, whoever they are, have announced major changes to their objectives and financing without so much as a word to the supporters. The Mags clearly thought they were a major part of the Saudi sportswashing process but they look more of a footnote in the accounts these days.

And as I've been thinking recently, who exactly welcomes guests, family, visitors, etc, to SJP? How do the players feel when their friends and families are met by Linda, from the back office, with a clipboard and lanyard?

The Newcastle supporters went to London, this week, for an important game yet there seems to be no acknowledgement, at all, from the club. The players barely communicate, with each other let alone their fans, and trudged over at Selhurst Park as if they were visiting their mother-in-laws.

Their 'lap of honour', in their last home game against West Ham, could see the ground half empty if they're not winning ...

... and I bet there's not a Saudi in sight.

Very interesting...
Just been reading that on the BBC website. Some pretty big losses there, even though they are loaded I can't see them continuing with that for the next 5 years just to see if it turns a profit. £2m in broadcasting rights is buttons.

I keep seeing various Mag 'journos' and shouty internet people talking about 'The Rebuild' as if there's been an official announcement from the club. I suspect it's more an exercise in Mag arse-covering for when Tonali, Gordon, Bruno, etc, start looking for the exit door. Then they can say, 'Ah yes, we'd gone as far as we could with these players,' just as they do with their managers.

They'll also do their usual 'the bidding can start at £100m' for the likes of Gordon when they paid £40m and he's not really improved that much, 16 caps as a 25yo isn't exactly world class tbh. Irrespective of the sale price they'll have to pay top dollar for replacements because players are reluctant to go there.

Whatever the case they won't be signing the very best no matter what the fee or the wages ...

... for the £70m Woltemade cost they should be signing much better.

They have the problem Sunderland used to have, bribing players to go.

Social Media Mags going for it.
Outgrown the club? You’ve had one good season in black and white, Anthony. We took you in when Everton fans were chasing your car down the street, and this is the loyalty we get? If you think you're bigger than Newcastle United, the exit door is that way. We only want players who play for the badge, not just the bank balance. Toon Army doesn’t need tourists."

"Money over loyalty. Anthony Gordon wants out because he thinks he’s ‘outgrown’ us? Don't let the door hit you on the way out. No player is bigger than this club. Newcastle was here before you, and we’ll be here long after you’re sitting on someone else’s bench for a ‘pay rise.’ "

"Champions League football? You need to perform in the league first. You’ve been here five minutes and suddenly you’re too big for the Gallowgate? ‍♂️ It’s funny how 'new challenges' always seem to come with a 'significant pay rise.' Best of luck finding a fan base that will back you like we did—you’re going to need it.

Oops, trouble in paradise.

Ah bless all the upset special little soldiers.

Their problem has always been trying to fill the no 9 shirt. And it has to be a marquee signing, the fans, the club deserve it. Er, no noone deserves it. They gambled last minute with Waltermeider and at first he was the dogs bollocks, then he's dropped into midfield like Joelinton, because they can't do it up front.

I can see them trying to buy high profile players and trying to fit square pegs in round holes. Reminds me a Chelsea, buy great players, but they can't play together or in the system the club plays.

It's gone down rather quickly since winning the cup.
