Well that was exciting I fell asleep 3/4 way through the second half -awful football game.
I watched first half then went down allotment and watched bits of second half on my phone whilst tidying up my shed and sorting some screws out for raised bed covers.............

Our team is not great but a few years back we clamoured and would have been satisfied for our present position, not doing badly even with all the goings on.

I keep reminding myself that for the majority of my life as a City fan I’ve watched us struggle and compete in the bottom 2 divisions of the league.
This current stint in the Championship must be the longest in our history (not googled it) - safe, second tier security - something I would have bitten a hand off for in the mid-late 1980s.
What frustrates me though is the opportunities we have squandered to play at the top level, largely by poor investment on the pitch and also arguably in the dugout.
It’s a sad reflection of our perceived ‘status’ in the footballing world, when we harp back to Tinnions goal vs Liverpool and our 2-1 win over Man U among our highlights.
We should have beaten both of those clubs many times over the last 50 years, but we (well, the pundits too) cling to those isolated ‘giant killing’ events - because we have rarely faced them - and NEVER in the league since the AD days.
A bit like it’s sad reminiscing about 1966 all the time with regards to the England squad.
I find it a bit embarrassing tbh and our Welsh, Scottish and Irish cousins see it (understandably) as a delusion of grandeur.

In our all too short stint in the top flight in the mid to late 70s we were beating the likes of Arsenal (home and away) Liverpool, Man U home and away, Everton, Villa, Newcastle etc
The only team we failed to beat home or away in those 4 seasons was Nottingham Forest who went on to be league champions, and double, back to back, European Cup winners under the managerial god that was Brian Clough

Was there what we have today is shocking
