That ignores the reality that there is even more controversy with VAR than without. Look at PL fans, they're never saying how happy they are with referees now that VAR is there, it's the total opposite. There's more anger and conspiracy theory around decisions in the PL than ever.
Celebrating a goal in the way we do as football fans, only to find out 3 minutes later we needn't have bothered is one of the most bizarre things I've ever came across in my life. There's almost a feeling of embarrassment and foolishness that you got suckered into celebrating too early and a sense of anger that the moment has suddenly been erased.

I absolutely love coming to see Hull City but my personal experience of VAR at Ibrox Park would put me off making the journey if it ever lands on our doorstep...It's ruining the game we love.

I would hate VAR in the Championship. Would prefer it ditched from the PL too.

I'd much rather be screwed over by the odd decision than have to deal with VAR every game.
It's not the odd decision though, there's multiple every week. It ruins otherwise good games.

But as I said in another post, this seems to imply that games with VAR are harmonious and unaffected by refereeing controversy, but quite the opposite is true. Watching MOTD, multiple games every weekend see fallouts over decisions, fans think the VAR is against their team, managers complain about it. Nobody is actually happy in that world.

We are upset about our most recent game right now, and we had that strange disallowed goal vs Millwall, but it is a rare thing really.

No I said above it would be a stripped back var. I'm not advocating for it as it's used in the pl.

We've had plenty of missed pens this season too.

Er OK? I'm just telling you the rules as they currently stand.
Erm, I know the rules thank you. Yet you claim the Man Utd player 'clearly pulled' the Leeds player hair, and what if he did? so what? ....the only thing clear I saw was two players tussling for a high ball, as they all do, in every game at every level, then the Leeds player throw himself to the ground as though he'd been poleaxed perhaps because he thought his ridiculous pony tail had been manhandled, when it hadn't, it was still in place. He was clearly trying to con the referee into giving him a free kick and booking a fellow player. So blatant ****housery cheating. If that was a sending off offence under the violent conduct ruling then the game is well and truly ****ed. If anything and if the person watching the incident over and over again in slow motion on a small screen before deciding it is then they have either never played the game in their lives or they are so full of their own importance that it is effecting their judgement.
The referees could man up too by telling both players to get off their arses and get on with the game instead of stopping play and running to the halfway line and dramatically announcing to the crowd, in a 'look at me' fashion what he or someone sat in the stand has decided. No-one pays to watch a referee, and the best ones go unnoticed.
VAR wasn't intended to judge if a players toe, elbow, arm or shoulder is offside or if someone's fingers may have brushed against another players pony tail and the fans do not pay good money to see games decided on such petty decisions. It is making a mockery of the sport, it encourages cheating, and it is unpopular. The FA should listen to the paying public and bin it for good.
I'd go as far as saying I'm not a fan of it.

It was a red card, not sure what you're ranting about. You say you know the rules, great, end of chat.

VAR is never going to work in it's current form when it's relied on to make decisions that are not back and white and are still down to human opinion and interpretation. What one ref gives another doesn't etc. it should be completely striped back to only be involved with black and white decisions. Was it out of play, who did it come of last, off side or not ( the offside rule should be changed to make it much simpler, if any part of a players body is onside then their onside ). Set a limit for a decision also, if it takes longer then 25/30 seconds then it's the on field decision. Var should also take over the time keeping and it should be done like rugby, the second the balls out of play, ref blows the whistle etc then the clock is stopped, it will eradicate all time wasting instantly. It works well in rugby so just adopt it in football.

Also now I've started, a few rule changes need to happen imo.... The handball rules is a mess, unless a player deliberately moves his hand to stop the ball, it's just not handball, all this ball hitting hand when it's down by their side etc is just useless and pointless.

The petty fouls that are given every time a player "feels" the opposition behind them and just drop to the floor is embarrassing, stand your ground, use your strength and fight to protect possession, if you can't.....get in the gym.

Any diving, instant one game ban, you do it again 3 game. It's just piss poor, ruining the game and flat out cheating.

Play full stop needs to be allowed to flow more. It's a contact sport and should be kept at that, don't like to get hurt, wear bigger shin pads instead of the matchboxs that are in fashion ATM. Refs need to encouraged to allow it and not blow at every opportunity.

Player / ref respect.... Again take a leaf out of rugby, mic up the ref and any player swearing at a ref or showing any decent, instant bans. Involve the captains more but only them.

We could make some really simple small changes in football and it would instantly improve the game and also the experience for fans. But for some odd reason, the FA want to make the game more complicated rather than more simple, enjoyable and entertaining.

As you can tell, it's a **** Tuesday haha

This is exactly the issue for me - the spontaneous joy of a goal is being compromised.

If VAR is going to stay or be expanded, as others have said, it should be limited strictly to clear mistakes, not forensic re‑refereeing.

A time limit is essential too. If a decision can’t be reached within 30 seconds (or another short, fixed window), the on‑field decision should stand.

Offside decisions need reform too. Wenger’s 'daylight' proposal makes far more sense, ruling someone offside because of a toe or shoulder is absurd and undermines the spirit of the game.

Also, I tend to bet on goals and the amount VAR has cost me is ****ing unreal.

Don't forget the shepherding the ball out of play, doing it from 5 yards is not shepherding its ****ing obstruction, indirect free kick, same with throws in, free kicks take them from the correct place its really not difficult.
Whilst we are all ranting, goal kicks should be from the side the ball went out, the rule of either side was introduced to speed the game up, which was only going to happen to the losing team, if you're winning you slow it down by switching sides. Boils my piss and my love of the game keeps dwindling every single season they **** about with the laws of the game.

Yes, hair pulling is categorised as violent conduct in football. While not specifically named in the IFAB Laws of the Game, it falls under Law 12 as a non-football action that involves using force or brutality against an opponent when not challenging for the ball.

Current Disciplinary Standards
Following recent high-profile incidents, refereeing bodies like the PGMOL have issued stricter directives to treat hair pulling with zero tolerance.
ESPN
  • Mandatory Red Card: Intentional and forceful hair pulling is an automatic sending-off offence.
  • Three-Match Ban: A red card for violent conduct typically results in a mandatory three-match suspension.
  • VAR Intervention: Because hair pulling often occurs off the ball or during aerial jostling, it is a primary focus for VAR reviews.

Historically, incidents like Tottenham’s Cristian Romero pulling Marc Cucurella’s hair in 2022 without a red card have been cited by authorities as major officiating errors that necessitated the current stricter threshold.

Unfortunately professionals cheat bend the rules do anything to gain an advantage
And for refs it’s a nightmare to referree

Why would anyone think hair pulling is acceptable?
Why not a bit of eye poking
Maybe a punch

Then again
Men should have buzzcuts
Only fairies have hair longer

Right?
Yeah right. ( just kidding but the game has gone way too far in the opposite direction. I quite enjoyed watching Franny Lee and Norman Hunter back in the day)

Also it’s worth thinking, VAR possibly wouldn’t have got involved in the key decisions on Saturday.

They don’t look at yellow cards, and both of the cards Lunny got are open to interpretation by the ref.

Then the pen, is it a clear an obvious error? Hard to say when there was so much wrestling in the box. Probably one of those where if it wasn’t given VAR wouldn’t give it, but if it was given VAR won’t overturn it either.
