Sunderland welcome Spurs to the Stadium of Light in the Premier League.
Last time out Sunderland won the derby (again) and Spurs lost to Forest.
Sunderland beat their local rivals for the second time this season with a last-minute winner from Brian Brobbey. The home side had taken an early lead from a defensive error, but Chemsdine Talbi equalised in the second half and then Brobbey finished off a fine move at the second attempt to seal the 3 points. Thus maintaining the Black Cats 11 match unbeaten derby record in the Premier League.
Roefs, Mukiele and Reinildo are all expected to be fit, Nelson Angulo is out for 2 to 4 weeks. Ballard is not available for this game.
Spurs have appointed Roberto De Zerbi on a 5-year contract after sacking their second manager this season. The North London club are struggling near the relegation zone and suffered a humiliating 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest before the international break, leading to the dismissal of Igor Tudor.
Goal keeper Guglielmo Vicario was planning to have surgery on a hernia over the international break, and it probably means that Antonin Kinsky will play instead. Sarr and Tel could return to the squad after injury.

Regis le Bris:
"This job is never finished, You always have something to do, to improve, so you can spend 24 hours per day and it's not done.
"I'm proud about not only the results, it's the way we work together. I think it's a massive collective work, and as a manager I'm really proud of that because you can't succeed alone. It is impossible.
"Here in Sunderland, we have a really good team. I speak about the players, of course, but also about people around the team in the building. So it's a big achievement so far. We want to get better, but it's not too bad."
"Probably the job is a bit unpredictable because you can't control everything, When you are lucky you find the right environment for your own style, to find the right place, and when it's done you have to work hard. Sometimes it's not aligned and you can work hard but it won't work, but in this situation it worked well."

Roberto De Zerbi:

“It's not the right moment to speak about my philosophy for football,” Roberto told us in his first interview last week.
“I’m here now at the end of the season because we have to win the games.
“In football, the style of play, the tactical disposition are important. There is a mentality and I would like to help the players to reach the best mentality we can show. I signed five years of contract because, for me, it's a big challenge and I will be the coach of Tottenham next season, no matter what.
“In this moment, we have no time to work too much on more principles, but we have to know what we have to do on the pitch. We have to have a good organisation, with the ball, without the ball. We have to consider the qualities of the players. We are lucky - I am lucky - because I have big players with big talent and my work is to help the players to show their qualities.”

Betting Odds:

8/5 Spurs 13/8 Draw 9/4

My two pence:
Roberto De Zerbi will have had about 5 working days with his new team, it will be interesting to see what effect he has in such a short time. Fourteen of our squad players were away on international duty but the extended break should mean that our walking wounded are ready for the last 7 games.
We need to put Kinsky under pressure from the start.
I’m going for a 2-1 home win.

It will be an early train for me on Sunday and it will most likely be full of Spurs fans, anyway I hope to see a few Not606ers in the Museum <cheers>

I've never enjoyed a break as much as this one but overjoyed to see your thread ...

... after beating the Mags this makes the Spurs game much more important in my opinion.

Defeat could've meant a drift towards the break but now means a crack at Europe, the chance to finish above Newcastle ...

... and, as a bonus, the chance to send an arrogant club, with arrogant supporters, down to the lower leagues.

I can't wait and think the heroes from the dark side will get a fantastic reception, I'll be in early just for that reason.

Ha'way the Lads!!!

Thanks for the thread @RTB

It feels so long since I went to the football so I'm really looking forward to this. Spurs have been awful this season. They've not had long to turn it around before a long trip up north. I hope that all goes in our favour. Haway!

Great to see your MDT back @RTB it feels like we’ve had a mini close season.

Really looking forward to getting back to the SOL and lauding the epic effort of a scratch starting eleven at Visitorville.

Hoping that we get a few of the injured lads back.

Going for a more front foot approach from
RLB and look to exploit their lack of confidence, particularly at the back.

2-1 to the Lads.

Cheers @RTB, great to see a matchday thread again, seems like ages since we had one. You do a cracking job, always appreciated.

Looking forward to this, and i confident of a positive result. Im going 3 - 1 to the lads, with Brobbey, Le Fee and a late goal from Isidor to seal the win.

I'll be in the fans museum, so owe you a drink @RTB.

My Mam, who wasn't really into football, hated Spurs (despite a crush on Pat Jennings) because apparently they once cheated by scoring a late goal against us.
So for that reason I obviously really want us to pay them back by winning with a late goal. Though 3-0 would be acceptable as well.

Key for me in this game is the first goal, expecting them to come at us and if they score we could be in trouble, they've got good players they just haven't been a good team, an early goal could make them click. We score however they could fold completely.

Haway Sunderland, don't disappoint all the people wanting spurs to go down, and more importantly Mam, thrash the buggers.

So glad to see the match thread back, its been far to long. Thank you @RTB

Hopefully we have a nearly.fir sqaud to pick from and RLB has some interesting decisions to make on who starts.

Spurs can definitely be got at and there defence is a red card waiting to happen, especially with Brobbey up front holding the ball up.

Can't wait to be back at the SOL and think we can win this 2-0

hopefully with Roefs, Nordi, Angulo, Ta Bi and Ballard back we should have the best match squad we can,

all of the pressure will be on them, RDZ has to win, spurs HAVE to win. If west Aaaam win tomorrow night and spurs plop into the bottom, that could be telling.

we need to let Brobbey run free. get an early goal or 2, and their heads will drop.

hopefully RLBs presser should give us more info on the current status on fitness

I'm hoping RLB pays a straight bat again on player's fitness and who could be back in the team. That way Spurs won't know who to play against. He might have an idea of how we play going off the previous matches but different players react differently in matches if that makes any sense

Great to see the match day thread back. Thank you @RTB for all your hard work pulling these excellent match day threads together. This will be my first match since New Year’s Day so really looking forward to it! Coming back a little earlier from a weekend trip to the Lake District so if you see a decrepit individual hobbling into the fans museum, that’ll be me! Can’t wait to see you all. Haway the lads!

Thanks, RTB, great to have the MDT back, feels like an eternity, mind the 3 weeks of winding the mags up has definitely helped, would be nice to get that winning feeling back at home, seems an age since we last won at the SoL, praying for a West Ham win tomorrow to really pile the pressure on Spuds, agree with a lot of the comments thus far, we need to get at them early doors, get a couple of goals and they will fold as the pressure from our fans will really get to them, I'm going for 2-1 home win, think it will be close as always, HAWAY, HAWAY, HAWAY
