My headspace isn't great at the moment. I should be preparing for an accounting exam but, im putting it off. I barely get out of bed. I barely leave the house and when I do it's only to walk around the block or nip to shop for something.

To make matters worse, I was suffering woth the worst toothache imaginable over the weekend. I had the tooth extracted today and the after care is way too much to think about right now. I just want to avoid everything and hide away but, I can't. My mouth won't heal correctly if I do. I just honestly cannot be bothered with life right now.

Thanks for reading. If anyone has advice I look forward to reading it. Please don't be too blunt. I know the obvious is get my head out of my arse and just do. But, honestly it was an effort today to just vent here.

I'm not happy, im just not.

It can be all too easy to focus on the negatives in life. A lot of therapists suggest that you consciously focus on things in your life that are positive and that you are grateful for as a counter-balance. It helps some people to write a short list every day of things that you are happy about / that went well / that have made things better than they were.

I guess your first one could be getting rid of the toothache. The philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer defined happiness as simply the absence of pain. A fairly bleak outlook but he may have had a point.

You say that the obvious is to get your head out of your arse. Don't be so hard on yourself. Is this the advice you'd give to someone else? Be kinder to yourself.

Lastly, always remember 'the darkest hour is just before dawn'. The light will return.

Hi again all. After this tooth extraction im unmotivated to eat. Soft foods, liquid foods dont do anything for me. If anybody else has had any teeth removed, what are/did you eat during the process? Did you do anything to make it exciting? Just standing around making scrambled eggs or opening tins of soup is so frustrating. I want to hsve the things I enjoy! Not been able to even have enjoyment with what I eat is really getting me down too. Everything sucks

One of my favourite snack meals is scrambled egg on toast, I add some thinly sliced red chilli and a slack handful of baby spinach to my three raw eggs - tastes awesome.

PS You clearly wouldn't have it with heavily buttered thick slices of toast!!

You can eat fairly normally but avoid the site where the tooth has come out of as you could disturb the clot that's in it , it should be forming nicely by now and you don't want to disturb it.

Mouthwash gently afterwards with Luke warm salted water but don't swill it around aggressively. :emoticon-0148-yes:

You'll forget about it in a couple of days time once the extraction site clots over..

Make your soups a bit more interesting? Buy new flavours, put croutons in them, grated cheese on top. Make leek and potato soup, smoked haddock soup. All easy and don't need chewing!

People can give all the advice in the world, but no one can feel the way you feel, it's so personal. I absolutely hate anything therapy wise, but find myself that I'm having to do it. Contact your GP, I'm lucky, my GP is incredible. I had to go to the crisis team a few months ago, and they were ****, tick box exercise, couldn't wait to get me off their list. Had to go again the other day, I insisted on different people, they were much better this time, but I was strong and said I did not want the 2 I had previously. I think that's all you can do. I'll send you my number on message and feel free to chat anytime text or whatever. I was the same as you for a long long time, I'm getting out again, but I do understand.

I fully understand what you mean regarding crisis teams, I have worked in various teams since 94.
I am in no ways perfect but I treat people as individuals, you find about a persons history but you do not assume.
Crisis teams are essential when things are difficult, but they have to be approachable, understanding and not come across as judgemental
I am still working at 72, more fool me!,but I still get immense satisfaction from it
I don’t see people as statistics, if I am scheduled to see 5 people in a day I don’t allot a certain time to see each person just see how it goes
The person being seen has a right to be able to speak freely and should be able to express the view that they don’t feel listened to etc.
Take care
