It’s easy to forget Frank was a highly respected coach who was expected to take a step up. The gamble was threefold - on him outside the highly-specific Brentford environment, on him being able to manage the bigger personalities at a bigger club (on the pitch and in his off field interactions with staff and media), and in him developing his game model to be a protagonist, not reactive. He spectacularly failed on all counts.

I’m not happy about RDZ, on the field or off it. We’re up **** creek and drowning but I’m even more concerned if this appointment goes through.

I opted for Poch at the time and, you know, I'd still be happy to see him return.

Same here.

I think he's the only option who'd unite the fans and also have enough of a grace period with them to turn things around.

I'm not remotely confident about RDZ but right now he's probably the best option to keep us up, and that is the absolute priority.

Yeah, I’m not liking where this is heading either. De Zerbi stinks of absolute desperation to now bring in any old manager who has “PL experience” on their CV, whilst avoiding the “anti football” reputation types, because Tottenham Hotspur are too snobby for that. - To dare is to do, an’all that. <doh>
If De Zerbi comes in on a permanent basis and keeps us up (I don’t think he does to be honest), he’ll almost certainly lose his job in no time once the new season starts. But I suppose all the club are thinking is avoid relegation at all costs, regardless. And it’ll be cheaper to hire and fire again that the financial implications if we were to go down. I do get this, as it is desperate times, but I don’t believe De Zerbi is the man for that. Just don’t get it at all.
The obvious point with De Zerbi is he reeks of another board fixation, given his name keeps floating around our orbit (as has at least one of his former coaches)

At least Hutter has the Rangnik seal of approval, even if he is a 3ATB merchant (so, the other board fixation... )

Still, given De Zerbi's track record of flouncing, that's one payout we're likely going to dodge

And the club has now confirmed that it decided after the Forest capitulation that Tudor was going, but out of compassion for the loss of his father postponed any decision for a week....
So they knew he was going...not a case of giving him a few days to grieve and or decide for himself... But seem to have done nothing to identify and confirm a replacement until now.
I'm sorry for his loss, but ****ing hell, this was not the time to shut the shop as a sign of condolence!

Given there was certainly talk of us making and offer for De Zerbi as far back as last Wednesday, the board managed to not only bork their keeping their search for a replacement on the down low but also borked any attempt at showing compassion to Tudor

Also borked any attempt at showing they weren't fixated on certain things, such as De Zerbi and 3ATB managers, but let's focus on the headline here...

That doesn’t surprise me at all.

It’s just bad decision after bad decision.

Horrifically run club.

I’d argue he isn’t even a big name.

Here's the thing.

I'm not in favour of this. In fact I think we're beyond the point of salvation.

But the hard truth is, stacked up against every other name being mentioned, which let's be honest included people who haven't managed a game in a decade or more, De Zerbi is the biggest name. By a distance. For the fact that he has very recent PL experience and has also managed a big club who are also run a bit like an asylum, Marseille.

I'd imagine it was between him and Dyche and from the sound of it, both wanted a proper contract to do it. Granted De Zerbi wants longer than Dyche but I make them pretty even in terms of securing our survival, and beyond that De Zerbi is the clear favourite to be a success in the long run.

And yes, this is where we are right now. We've snookered ourselves so badly that the only two shots remaining are Dyche or De Zerbi. I can't see our arrogant tosser players listening to a word Dyche says in his salt of the earth east midlands accent. And there is also the very real concern that he totally failed at Forest.

So the choice has been made for us. By a combination of our own incompetence and circumstances beyond our control.
