I have been having some right belly laughs watching the Yew Choob and Twatter Mag meltdoons. They all seem to ask the same question though "How did them Mackems beat wa?". If you can't understand the basic premise that if one team kicks the ball into the other teams goal more times than the other team does they win, then really football is not the game for you. In fact you should not be allowed to go anywhere or do anything without a responsible adult in attendance :emoticon-0102-bigsm

not being funny here because we all know there are good mags out there, but certain ones do seem to hold onto a very simplistic view of premier football, basically along the lines of 'we are the richest club in the world, we have spent lots of money, eddie howe is a mint coach'.

yet they keep wondering why they struggle, just about every football supporter have told them but they seem convinced they just have to turn up and collect...i have said this a couple of times, they NEED a reset, just clear out and start again.

I know what Keys is like, it's why I said it the way I did, so I do take it with a pinch of salt. However. It's making some of that lot squirm because they don't know if it's true or if they want/don't want it to happen! Processing that kind of information is a bit much for them and they'll not know which way to jump at least until it becomes clear one way or the other.
Aye, it's definitely come at a bad time mind!
But, If I was one of them, I would be wondering why there had not been a loud and very public denial of any intention to sell. Not just letting journalists "understand there is nothing in it". Whatever their other distractions, such a thing is easy to do and say.

If you mean it.

Imagine it,

Season finishes

We confirm European football,

They end up closer to bottom 3 than top 3.

And they put out a statement saying they are being sold
Couldn't give a monkey's what happens to them to be honest. They were gone when the Saudis kidnapped them.
I've enjoyed this couple of days, but it still doesn't feel as good as it used to when we beat them. They just don't count.

He's a bell end, and he is a shill for Qatar who have not often been on good terms with the Saudis, though they are a bit more settled the last few years .

That said, he knows his voice will be heard. He might be just winding that daft sods up, or he might have heard something. If there was anything to hear, he's in a good position to hear it .
I was talking to a mate at work about this and Richard Keys and in his opinion it could be one of a couple of things.
1 - Keys knows nothing and is putting internet gossip and rumour out there for attention (and/or as you say, shilling for Qatar to cause trouble for the Saudis/mags).
2 - he has heard rumours, maybe picked up off the internet but he's in a position to check and even if he's had no direct contact with the Saudis there'll be people who would speak to him about it. And its a good way for the Saudis to test the water and see who'd be interested in the mags without them openly saying they're for sale. Plausible deniability by using various intermediaries and this is important.

There's been too much low level stuff for a while about the Saudis losing interest. The way nothing has progressed with the stadium or the training ground, including rumours that the Saudis want external funding for it. The turn over in staff, the way Stavely was dumped, the Isak fiasco, the rumours about Tonali and Woltemade wanting away, Bruno being linked away. It's circumstantial but enough to suggest things aren't well behind the scenes. What better way to advertise that you're prepared to sell without openly advertising it than getting a well known sports media personality to mention it? And if there's no takers at the level they want or will accept, they can just say nothing and Keys gets dismissed as a bullshitter.

This is what my mate thinks the second thing is happening. Because the Saudis don't want to appear to be losing face or being keen to get rid, they want to sell from a position of strength not look like they want shot. Even Keys quoting that they want £1 billion but might accept less (he states starting from £500 million) feels like setting some negotiable figures. And if there no immediate takers they can hold tight for now and pretend nothing is happening. It doesn't mean they'll sell immediately, though, but I think that this could be the beginning of more stories.about the Saudis losing interest.

I think I'm with your mate on this. They could completely snuff this out in a number of ways, not least a very firm, unambiguous public statement. Easy to do, and could be done immdediately.

We'll see!

Newcastle have just had the biggest week in their recent history.

Their ‘owners’ were absent from their Carabao Cup and CL surrenders and the biggest home derby for many years. As I’ve said recently who actually welcomes visitors to SJP games?

If it’s really ’Vicky from catering’ that’s actually incredibly funny <laugh>

Europe can be a poisoned chalice.
Look at Forest, Spurs and the Saudis.
You’re quite right but, as Burnley just found out, so can promotion.

Qualifying for Europe doesn’t mean you’re forced to win it …

… but it would be a nice addition to our history and achievements.

And huge attention for the club which may help to attract more players.

David Hopkinson was remarkably bullish when taking on the role of Newcastle United chief executive at the end of last year.

The Canadian reckoned he could put Newcastle "in the debate about being the top club in the world" by 2030.

After Sunday's 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland, they are not even the top club in the north east in terms of the current Premier League table.

My mind automatically read Bullish as Bullshit

Should've kept his mouth shut instead of pandering to the mags for acceptance. Find it odd and weird when new signings try and kiss their arses by having a dig at Sunderland straight away.

I was just thinking this. Does any other clubs have players do this ****e as soon as they get there?

It must be their media team? Its happened for years and I can only imagine everytime someone new starts with the media team and they are being shown the ropes the person showing them around says "one easy way to get positive attention from this lot is to get a player to say they have slept in Mag pj's since they were 4 and think Sunderland are ****e"

"Even if they are from deepest darkest peru and Paddington bear was their nearest neighbour for 250 miles say they grew up loving the mags and hate Sundrland! They will lap that **** up!"

Insecurity mate. And a lack of humility in the dressing room generally. This latter was seen in spades on Sunday.

Not many of their fans have called them out yet for this high arrogance, maybe it mirrors too many of their own assumptions, but it's a deadly worm in a club. Always destructive.
