I missed half of it (and didn't see WBA at all) but didn't Millar do ok v Wrexham?
It's not the lads fault to be fair to him,he's a flair player and doesn't have much nous when it comes to defending,so I'm not singling him out for criticism. He'll probably have a very good input this Saturday as I suspect we'll be in attack from the off but some of the teams we've played over the last few weeks have noticed a weakness there and are exploiting it.

Are Wednesday a tall side? Don't know much about them but we've conceded from a set piece in our last five home games in a row, and on most of those occasions it's flipped the game on its head when we were on top before it. We can't let that happen again. So unless we're very confident that it isn't a big threat, which I don't really believe we can be, then we need some big men on the pitch, which probably means McNair making up the back four rather than Slater playing at full back. Putting Slater there would give us more quality on the pitch, but I really think we need to be prioritising the set piece issue now.

Had a Quick Look at their last game and no they don’t look a particularly tall team
They played about 5 20 year olds and some old heads
20 year old keeper too
Don’t expect a cricket score but if we don’t win….

Slater more quality (playing at RB) than McNair? McNair RB with Drameh LB, and with no need to mess with midfield is the obvious option imo. (unless we conceptually play an un-named academy kid obvs :emoticon-0112-wonde)

Yeah I think Slater is a more skillful, quality player than most of our defenders, and I think there's an argument that having him at right back would give us an extra player who'd be good in possession and help pin them back, but as I said on the other side I think having defensive height should be a priority too as they inevitably will get some set pieces, so I agree with your lineup.

Slater at right back is the ****test idea of them all. He’s our best midfielder this season by some way, it would be just plain daft to take him away from there.

That said, I predict that is exactly what will happen. Purely because we do have a decent amount of central options to pick from currently and it makes space for someone else to get some game time, but I do hope not.

I said it last time we were in this situation and got slated, but I still stand by it.

There has to be a youth player that can come in and do a job. Keep Drameh on the right and play an Ashbee (not sure if he’s a CB or LB) or another youngster in their natural position.

Millar experiment didn’t work, nor will drameh on the left.

I've already said he could fill-in in a real emergency situation. But it would be madness on such an important game at such an important stage of the season when we have at least a couple of far better options with experienced players who've played in that position at this level (and higher).
But what do I know? .....well, actually, same as Sellers, Daws nd Jak know on this one I guess...but then what do they know :emoticon-0105-wink:
