I remember reading that Chris Wilder rated him highly. If Wilder had remained at Sheffield United, we may never have got him.
Sheffield United got relegated. Whoever took over from Wilder didn't rate Slater. So we got him on the cheap in the January.
Ask yourself "How much to replace him?"

Slater's a brilliant squad player and the first midfielder on the team sheet for me. Reading between the lines we haven't been able to agree a new deal, which is a shame.
After this seasons performances £5m+. He’s absolutely bossing it in midfield.
Can we not sign a left-back on a free transfer until the end of the season?
Logan Ndenbe was released by Kansas City, he'd do. Otherwise, step forward Ed Devine from the U21s

Was just looking at the OWS to double check who we still had, including at U21 level.
When you look at our senior squad, it's a serious squad ..... if it hadn't been absolutely decimated by injuries, and players having to play with injuries, this season!! If we'd had even only reasonable luck with injuries, just think where we could be now.
Only big weakness I'd say is no high quality back up / alternative to McBurnie, which I guess is at least partly down to Destan not working out as hoped.

How fit is she?I’m working with a colleague today from sheffield , who used to be a wag, she was telling me she has been to a party at Jude Bellinghams house , and spoken to Marcus Rashford but she can’t understand why I’m more excited she was in same class as Regan Slater at school and is good mates with his girlfriend , and wondering why I’ve asked more questions about him

Was waiting for that, haha , as a father I wouldn’t like to comment too much on a young girls appearance , but probably not as fit as you’d imagine , but wouldn’t crawl over her to get to you

To be fair it’s unfortunately not happening for him up front atm so it might be a blessing in disguise.
Millar played mostly as a wingback for Preston in a 3-4-1-2 shape, usually on the left but occasionally on the right too. It’s not uncharted territory for him. It will have to do because there’s literally no other option for most of our remaining games.
