I am actually wondering who is going to pay these prices for tickets though
Will Americans pay $1000 for the novelty of going to a game ?
Over a million tickets sold so far, so it looks like it.

Just enquired with a local travel agent about a long weekend in NYC, and try to take in the England v Panama game on 27th June..I'm no millionaire, therefore £2.5k for flights and 4 nights in Manhattan is a tad ott. Reason why hotels are charging over the usual rate. Yes, you've got it...World Cup.
PS...That is before the cost of a ticket to get into the game is added.
If there are 104 games and the average capacity of each stadium is 50,000 that means ticket sales for bums on seats is currently at about 19% of capacity....I'm starting to think that the stadiums will be less than half full come kick off.Over a million tickets sold so far, so it looks like it.
Saying on the news that the Ballot for tickets opens today
I refer to my post #125.....Estimate 5,200,000 available seats, of which about 38% have been sold, (based on 2m sold)...My Maths ain't great, but I guess the other 62% might be difficult to achieve if the pricing is not brought down to a sensible level, once the corporate lot have filled their boots. I think they'll do very well to have stadiums 75% full, but things might change for the better or the worst. And no I've not got anything better to do, than wonder about World Cup ticket sales.Up to now, you've been able to buy tickets without knowing which game you'll actually be watching.
From today you can try and get tickets for specific games, knowing exactly who's playing, where and when.
Over two million tickets now sold ahead of the new ballot opening.

You might well be right OLM. I'm not been patronising. You always comes across to me as a clued-up guy who knows his onions, but I've heard stories before of so-called 'sold out' football tournaments played in front of half empty stadiums. The bigger football nations eg Brazil, Argentina, Spain, France, England etc..etc.. will probably sell out. But I bet a lot of the games will be played in front of nearly empty stadiums. Particularly those games played by Iran, Cape Verde and the other minnows. That's 2m tickets sold before anyone could apply to actually watch a specific game, from today they're opening the ballot for people to buy specific tickets for games they want to go to, they'll be gone in minutes. There might be the odd unattractive fixture that's got low demand, but most games are going to sell out no problem.
What so called sold out football tournaments would these be??You might well be right OLM. I'm not been patronising. Exactly, that's the point I'm making. Last couple of Euros and World Cups were touted as 'sold out'...but weren't.What so called sold out football tournaments would these be??

although I may have just ****ed up Mrs Shackleton's bucket list Niagara Falls' entry...Just to ensure that, even if I lose my ****ing mind over the next few months and consider paying extortionate flight, hotel and ticket prices, I won't be able to gain entry to Nu Facist 'Merica, may I just place on social media record that I think the Mango Mussolini is an unhinged, dangerous lunatic who needs to be locked up for a whole gamut of crimes.
I feel I've potentially just saved myself a small fortune (although I may have just ****ed up Mrs Shackleton's bucket list Niagara Falls' entry).
Edit: Canada side - trip's still on.
If you were wanting to go to Niagara Falls then you’d be better going to the Canadian side anyway.Just to ensure that, even if I lose my ****ing mind over the next few months and consider paying extortionate flight, hotel and ticket prices, I won't be able to gain entry to Nu Facist 'Merica, may I just place on social media record that I think the Mango Mussolini is an unhinged, dangerous lunatic who needs to be locked up for a whole gamut of crimes.
