I am surprised by the talk of O'Neill becoming Saints mamager as it ignores the most obvious possibility which is , given Portsmouth's league position, how safe ia Mousinho's job ? I think he has done a fantastic job at Fratton Park but O 'Neill would surely be a shoo in if they decided to part ways with him. I think O' Neill would take them up next season .
It makes you wonder about that 'fan panel' - surely somewhere on there would have said to Spors, "look mate, I know you're looking at people right now, but Gary O'Neil would be a pretty myopic move, and would strongly advise you don't take that kind of risk".
You could buy a new striker at the same cost as the entrance fee for 5 blokes to visit the motor museum.
Can see and hear it now. 24th January at Nottarf Krap when the Skates go 2-0 up the rendition of He’s one of our own Gary O’Neill, he’s one of our own, booming around the crappy little stadium. And yet another total disaster completed by the clowns from SR
Hope you’re right if it happens, but I feel he’ll be up against it from the start with his love confession for pompey, especially as we’re now in the same league. Would be like Romeu becoming Pompey manager after his interview yesterday.
I honestly don't get the attraction of O'Neil, a career win% of 31 as a manager albeit in the PL doesn't inspire confidence in me. Only 100 games as a manager too.
No, Romeu was playing for us what, three seasons ago. O'Neil left Pompey in 2007, 18 years ago. I'd say it would be more like if someone like Claus Lundekvam suddenly became the Pompey manager. Would be a bit weird, but not much more.
Can't really compare a newly promoted club that'd just lost 9-0 to one who's been there a few seasons though.
Yes because they saw an upgrade, like we did with Adkins. Was he doing a bad job when he got the sack? No.
