It's an attempt to piss everyone off to such an extent that the leagues start allowing 3 o'clock kickoffs to be televised.

Yes, that was one thing on my mind that I failed to record in my post.

It's so the TV companies who paid loads of money for the rights to broadcast live games can show more games.

    Short answer, money.

Lot more simpler than that. It was to get around the not been able to televise live games rule that kick off at 3.00pm. Its only a matter of time until that is shelved too. Brian Clough was right.

I didnt go. I watched City. I think I have been to their new ground once. The structure of the stands make the accoustics good. Much better than a lot of grounds where the noise just drifts away.

When he said showing football games live on television will kill the game as a spectator sport.

There's so much live football on TV I have given up on watching it and I just watch MOTD unless they are very important matches at the end of the season.
I'll go to City's London area matches and watch the rest on stream.
If I still lived in Hull I would go to all the home matches and the nearer away matches.

When I lived in Hull and went to City away matches I'd get away from most of the City supporters and get a taste of the local area before matches and wherever we stopped on the way back. If we went by train we might make a night out of it in pubs and clubs.
A family member supports Crystal Palace and he goes to EVERY match and whether he goes by car or by supporters coach he goes to the ground and goes inside and only sees the ground. Even away matches in London he goes by coach from Selhurst Park to the ground. He'd never dream of even going by train or tube! David Livingstone he is not!

When I came to London in 1973 I went to an economics night class. For some reason the lecturer started talking about Britain. I was the only one of about 30 people who knew where places were outside of London!

I read somewhere it's a direct attempt to mess everything up and get the 3pm ban lifted. Not sure if that's the case though.

A friend of mine has a daughter and she lives in Morden and she's started at University College London studying history.
She's living at home with her mother and commuting.
I understand the financial considerations and I had my fees and grants paid for, but I never dreamt of going to Hull University and living at home. I much preferred going to London.
Living away is much more fun!

Yes it's a cracking ground. I still go back when I can, they have a great set up there.

Remember when it was just one televised match every Sunday. Something to look forward to, I miss those days, it was special.

I worked with a guy that was a direct descendent of the Dr. and my Dad worked closely with his Dad (in the shipping industry) and his name was David also.

Lots of kids have football on a Saturday morning and struggle to get to 1230’s
