Correct. Wasn't saying William was a philanthropist. Just pointing out that by hook or by crook, slavery in Britain was outlawed very early on. Every race in every region on earth have had slaves at some point. Britain were first to abolish slavery first within its boundaries and then attempted to abolish it worldwide by force and at great cost to the taxpayers until 2015 when the debt was officially paid off. Most people don't know this. Including Lenny Henry it seems.
