I'd agree on that line of thought too - which is the point I was trying to make. Each season there is some expectation for them to have a bit of a European jaunt but at the moment they aren't on par with those teams and will generally lose most games outside the Scottish league so headlines like Braga stun Celtic in Europa League aren't so unusual as to be a "stunning"

Six games in, four losses and two draws. Conceded three goals in three of the games. Fans booing the manager, chanting the previous manager's name and singing 'you're getting sacked in the morning'

Just the start Mr Marinakis was looking for. What a shame <laugh>

I am assuming it is far enough away from Swansea that he won't be lynched.

They would thrive with the PL given the additional funding, and the backing of fans who aren`t necessarily motivated entirely by football. Irish/Catholic backing on one side, Unionist/Protestant backing on the other, and a lot backing from outwith these shores.
I don`t see them ever joining the English league - why would English clubs want them in, taking two of their places. Unless it was some kind of super league stunt like the `big six` tried to pull a few seasons ago.

I am not convinced that either Rangers or Celtic would make a significant impact in English football. Che is right to think of Rangers as a top Championship team ( obviously without Martin!) I feel Celtic would be mid table of the Prem and a bit erratic , rather like Newcastle or Villa. I could never see them challenge the likes of .City, Utd, Arsenal or Liverpool in a million years. They would push for top six one season and be involved in a relegation battle the next. Not convinced Rangers survive beyond the Championship and would be a yo-yo club at best . As for the other Scottish teams, they would be lower Championship or even League One.

The fact that Martin is hopeless in Scotland is an indication of his calibre.
