This is my father's side: The only bit outside of Cornwall I can possibly explain is that my great-uncle was Dean of Gloucester Cathedral. This is my mother's side: I can't explain I can't explain much of that: I know their were connections in North Cornwall - around the Bude area. No idea about the Midlands and Ireland..... but it's a more common name.
My fathers surname (and mine) are strong in Wales.....and for some reason the Scottish Borders.....plus Southern England from the midlands downward and to the east.

One result yesterday that I feel I must draw to your attention. Sheffield United 1 - 4 Bristol City. Such a dreadful shame for Sheffield United to be humiliated in their first home game of the season after failing to be promoted to the Premier League where they so obviously think they have a right to be. The tragedy was only deepened by the absence of that loveable scallywag Chris Wilder, who so deserves to be involved in this sort of thing. It’s I the news this evening that the Government plans to crack down on older drivers. I’m sure that’ll win them some votes given that a proportion of the population think that’s the cause of huge number of accidents. Clearly, some accidents are caused that way. Nevertheless, the majority of casualties are caused or suffered by: Young men driving home late at night from nights out or showing off to young women. When they go, they tend to go in groups of 3 or 4. As a sub-set of the above, e-bike riders. There’s a Deliveroo rider that comes up our 30 mph residential street at something around 50 into a blind LH turn on a regular basis. Motor cyclists. Who hasn’t ben passed by one doing something above 100mph? Speed cameras of course are ineffectual against that as motorbikes don’t have front number plates. Militant cyclists who think their green credentials excuse them from any rules whatsoever. Once again, this Government is doing what it hopes is popular, not what’s right and/or effective.
Yes I noticed that on the news as well.....I come in that category.....as the years go by I do less miles each year and wonder if I'm wasting my money having an annual service.....and of course in the last month or so I haven't driven my car at all because of Citroëns C3 ban.
I have an eye test every year so that’s not an issue for me. But a lot of this is just posturing. Cutting the blood alcohol level will achieve little apart from catching a few poor sods driving to work of a morning who’s marginally over a ridiculous limit. What’s needed is to have the police out at 1/30 of a Sunday morning to catch those rolling out of nightclubs who are completely legless.
