On the basis van de Sar reckons Riznyk can be one of the best keepers in the world I’d plump for him.
aye, ability to whack that kind of money at that level is a huge advantage, strange they throw it away on hackney…..good player don’t get me wrong but not a difference maker and not a 20m player in my opinion
Riznyk and Ortega are both likely better imo, also doesn’t help Patto has played one pre season game due to injury and is missing the next two. Can’t be relying on Moore. Bring one of those two in to compete with Patto for me
Diaz will terrorise the Bundesliga is similar way Ribery did. If I played for a club like Leverkusen, I’d definitely get the hell outta there cos Bayern gonna cakewalk that league….
I don't know mate, their big thing is promoting Saudi as a country. If that's the case the mags themselves might not be that important for it to be considered as a humiliation. The aim now seems to be getting things there and promoting the place for tourism and inward investment. It's why they've spent so much on LIV golf, high profile boxing matches, Formula 1 and are heavily sniffing around tennis. The players they've signed to play in Saudi seems to be all about improving their league and raise it's profile. They have the big one in being awarded the world cup in 2034, so there's going to be loads of focus on that for the next few years. Add in whispers of eventually bidding to host the Olympics and you can see all the major focus is directed there, not promoting via an external body. I agree it's a litmus test, if they let Isak go without adequately replacing him you'll see the mags slip in importance to them. I guess only time will tell.
It’s entirely possible that their squad is too big and with too much waste in it. Probably still us enough to be right up there but I wouldn’t be completely shocked if they underwhelm.
With his age and a year left on his deal we’d probably be talking a relatively low fee. City won’t be looking to take anyone’s eyes out. The bigger question is wages. However he’d be a good bridge for a couple of years while we get established.
Seems the most sensible option of the two, it’ll probably be someone completely left field like had come round the idea of ramsdale but that link seems to have disappeared
Then the nunez money to follow and thats isak paid for on outgoing fees and wages saved, add Elliot to the sales and possibly Doak as well and Liverpool will be well within psr rules
Think ramsdale the player was always probably okay. The issue for me was always the deal it would take to get him. North of £20m would be the expectation. Now you’d probably get him on a loan towards the deadline but we shouldn’t wait that long. Even before the Patto injury it was a bad idea to make a keeper change mid-season. Also we should be saving loans for a bit of stardust. With ortega likely to be available for a third of the price of Ramsdale (or maybe even less) he represents a more appropriate option imo. Not a star, but a solid solution at an affordable price.
Would have to be Ortega for me. I think a few more players in, where the risk and potential reward are both lower, is not a bad tactic right now.
