Anyone else hear the story of Farkes son playing for Paderborn today. He has his mums surname Engelens and the kid apparently had a good game against us. Louis Engelens no doubt some wag will have him in the January transfer window thread
Hi doc, great thread as always. Betis, they are skint as are most (all) spanish clubs. Their latest trick was in order to sign a south american player valued at €7m by his club was to pay the player €5.3m to buy himself out of his contract, then the parent club can avoid paying tax on the deal and betis give them 10% of any future sale. They travel to england tomorrow although their head of recruitment has gone today, whether to speak to mateo joseph I dont know.
Betis are the working mans club in seville, their neighbours sevilla are the posh lot. Massive rivalry between them. Their stadium is a typical oldschool 4 sided affair with capacity for 60000, I went once as working in sevilla, was a good atmosphere walkable from town and plenty cheap places to eat and drink. Unfortunately they closed it this year and are now building a modern spaceshipesque thing. So they will move to the olympic stadium for 2 years. Sevilla as a city is a great place, lots of history great food and probably the best eye candy I have ever seen! 1 hour from the atlantic coast, great weather although a bit hot in the summer, they usually kick off at 22-00 in august and september. I can understand a footballer wanting to go there, also they play europa league this year.
