After an explosive start things have quietened down on the transfer front hopefully some movement soon, 7-8 more wanted
I must admit, if I were a Newcastle fan I'd want Isak sold as soon as possible and then get on the case of bringing Trafford, Scalvini, Guehi, Gallagher, Wissa and, say, Sesko in, would improve them massively and they'd be fine from a PSR perspective. I don't think their fans do want that though and I'm not sure that PIF/NUFC move at a speed adequate enough to get all that done. As a Sunderland fan I personally hope they make Isak stay, that he's miserable and demotivated there and that they continue to tyre kick and drag their heels on all their other deals.
They were giddy with excitement at the prospect of having both, they convinced themselves it was about to happen - makes all this even better to behold.
Yeah for all Isak is brilliant, that squad needs a lot more work that they let on and the isak money would give them the scope to add quality depth and sort out the CBs
Some hilarious comments on there now. “In it for the long haul” the usual “massive club” thing!! Oh how I hope it happens!!
Newcastle fan on the other forum I'm on says the journalists are doing this on purpose to destabilise Newcastle as they're threatening the established elite
not true, he has a minor thigh injury and his absence from the club at Celtic and pre season has nothing to do with any of the transfer speculation. I know this because Eddie Howe said so.
Wonder if Ten Hag is maybe getting his way a bit here? I understand the player power bit. But maybe he has played a canny hand here by letting the fans know he wants him and losing too many big players is a mistake. Bit of heat back on the sporting director. At some point you have to back a coach you have appointed, or you start to look the weak link. I have already said I dont see Xhaka kicking up a fuss. A week ago he was staying there for the benefit if his family. It would be bad for appearances if we coughed up the public asking price. If this rumbles on to next week I would move on personally, as good as he is.
