The ball just turned round batsman’s leg, rolled casually towards the stumps, coughed and the bail came off
Well played both teams, the difference being England kept their heads under pressure. Shades of 1981 v Oz when England had to.defend an even smaller total. Those of a certain vintage will recall Bob Willis's finest bowling spell ever.
England have recalled Liam Dawson for next week’s fourth Rothesay Test against India, with the spinning all-rounder replacing the injured Shoaib Bashir. England men’s national selector, Luke Wright, said: “Liam Dawson deserves his call-up. He has been in outstanding form in the County Championship and consistently puts in strong performances for Hampshire.”
Good choice. Jack Leach hasn’t really hit his straps this year for Somerset, and Dawson has been excellent for Hampshire.
It's shame that he'll miss our next two Championship matches as a result, but I'm not fussed - I'm just really pleased that he's finally got his deserved call-up. And besides, those two Championship are both with the kookaburra ball again. So they'll probably be high scoring draws anyway.
