Clearly it's still Ehab's fault for selling it to Acun in the first place.

The writing was on the wall when our wage bill topped our income. He was fully complicit in paying mediocre players top Championship wages...A disaster waiting to happen.

In the accounts there is a figure of £22m but they are described as "loans".

Which is actually not too bad if the owner is a billionaire and the club’s liquidity is in a good place. However, if the club’s coffers are dry and the owner has to move money around from various accounts to pay the club’s bills then it’s disastrous.

Is that from the 23/24 accounts?

Buckingham’s article suggests the £21.8M figure relating to future transfer fee instalments is from a leaked club financial document from May 2025 which isn’t public knowledge yet for obvious reasons.

It's no way to run a business, any business.

If we ran our homes like that we'd be ridiculed and rightly so.

Oh, my - could you imagine the level of smugness on Ehab's face should this come to pass as he milks the applause for saving the club? And this from the same fans that booed him at Wembley? <yikes>

Lots of clubs are in the red though; some are losing even more than us. It’s whether the owners can adequately bankroll the club to eat those losses and Acun seemingly cannot.

    yes
there was nothing like that figure in the 2023-2024 accounts - trade creditors (where transfer fees owed would reside) were £9m.

They might not be the same figure then, Pete. Buckingham says in his article he’s seen a leaked document of the club’s finances from May 2025 which show us owing £21.8M in future transfer fee instalments. This is probably a different figure to the £22M in the 23/24 accounts. We’ll find out when the accounts are published for 24/25.

It’s possible the £9M figure in the 23/24 accounts has been increased to £21.8M due to the 24/25 transfer business (instalments for Mehlem, Racioppi, Millar, Burstow, Hughes, Palmer, Belloumi, Kamara, Crooks, Joseph and Matazo).

Much of the Championship has a wage bill higher than its revenue, we're certainly not alone on that front.

I saw an amazing stat the other day, the total revue across all 72 Football League clubs in the 2022-23 season was about £1.1b, 27% of that revenue went to just five parachute clubs.

And a good thing is there’s staff at the club who are that concerned they’ve leaked this info
    Good on them

"In financial documents seen by The Athletic, dated the end of May, Hull still had £21.8million of future transfer commitments"

This doesn't necessarily suggest a leak from the club does it? Do the EFL have lists of this sort of info? Maybe he has a source at the EFL?

Whilst a worrying article, it doesn't really tell us anything we didn't already know. If anything it could be positive as it shows a willingness to sell. I don't dislike Acun but he clearly doesn't have the money or the backers to do what he wants to do.

We’ve no more money coming into the club in the form of previous transfer fees, by the way. The fees for Lewis-Potter, Greaves and Philogene have all been settled now except for add-ons. We had to ask Ipswich and Villa to pay the remaining instalments for Greaves and Philogene early as we’re that skint. Other than the TV money due in August, we haven’t got any serious money coming in unless we sell current players.
