I was told (i know i know) that there's not an issue with wages or at least not enough that either party walks away from the table. Sounds like he might be wanting a new challenge which would be ashame as I want to see him leading the side out at the start of the season (and hopefully does enough to keep his place). The wage situation is always a tough one to balance, each player will have a figure they want and the club will have a figure they want to pay - hopefully it'll align for us and Neil When players arrive with bigger fees, with international and top flight experience they'll naturally get more money. The key is making sure the other players get what they deserve, that doesn't mean the same or similar amount tho I really want Neil to stay I do have some concerns about him stepping up as I thought he had quite a few periods last aeason where he was poor however, I think he will be so much better having a yrs experience of the new role and working with RLB
I’d love Dan to stay and establish himself in PL, I’d be delighted. I don’t care who we sign any of our own that step up will always be special.
Yeah…. he can go, he’s not up to starting in the Prem. Might be a useful squad player but I won’t think of him again if he does go, he won’t cross my mind Sentimental attachment to footballers is something I don’t get.
We will miss Neil IF he goes. I hope he stays and smashes the league next year. Having at least one of our own starting next year will be huge for the academy and the club
Anyway, my favourite subject - coaches. We have a new one. And may I welcome him with a dancing man I am really excited by his appointment. Pioli has been one of the very elite coaches in Europe for years. He has seen it all and done it all. To be part of his team for so long is so impressive to me. I like a bit of Italian footy. I really enjoyed how we coached Milan. Pioli must have had 4 systems in that time. When he got Zlatan he went to a 4231 and let Zlatan be Zlatan. Runners everywhere behind him, but who could play as well. I cant remember who he signed at one point, think it was a Croatian. Struggled a bit so flipped his system to get him as a left sided attacker and bingo. I would watch his team and see them adapt to opposition and game situations and think his is tactically so elite. I mean really elite. His subs would nearly always change things. If Vulcano brings some of the coaching intelligence we are onto something I think. There is no guarantees in football and new personnel, but this is a pick out of a drawer higher than I hoped for. Delighted with it.
I believe he has been described by valencia fans as "the worst player to ever wear the shirt", but i havent seen him at milan. Not a fan really away from the valencia stuff, just dont really like him as a player.
He’s a bit ****. Played for England at youth level. Was at Valencia, did very little, went to Milan did even less. Somehow carried a reputation.
It’s not just sentiment, it’s continuity, cohesion and character. We’ve built a great squad full of good lads. If we want to progress we can’t just abandon all of that.
I don't think Guendouzi is all that good to be honest, especially not as a 6. I'd probably rather roll the dice with Neil there.
Yeah hes better and has played more as an 8 most of his career, dont think hes the big destroyer he has a reputation for but hes a wind up.
100% I am not keen on players who can start a fight in an empty phone box either. Just personal opinion. Get stuck in and scrap it our when it requires it, just dont be an arsehole on the pitch.
