Was listening to the HA'WAY the lads podcast today with Lee Howey and although I've seen it before and it's registered, I've never thought about it much. But he mentioned when Roberts had the ball before Moore played that pass to Watson, Roberts had 3 men around him which meant when Watson got the ball, the centre mid was out of position to stop him. Roberts must've had them scared ****less especially after that ball to Mayenda

You know I've watched this a few times (who hasn't ?) and there was a key moment in the build up to Watson's goal.
At 09:45 on this video, the ball breaks loose in the right back slot and as Hume winds up to a challenge, the Sheff Utd player pulls out, probably expecting to get smashed. Hume lays it off and we get up the pitch to Roberts and the rest is history.

You wonder how much that challenge on BBD was playing on their minds when going into a 50-50 with Hume.
Well he can't be blamed for being circumspect coming into a tackle with Hume mind! I'd want a suit of armour on

Don’t know if this has already been said, but it turns out the Patto save with his legs, good save as it was, was actually irrelevant.
Much as the Commentators wanted us to believe it would have been 2-0 and game over.
VAR would have called handball when their player took it from Cirkin
(Tried to upload a photo but saying it’s too large?)
I just noticed the handball when I watched the highlights again yesterday. Would definitely have been disallowed if Patto never saved it.

Doesn't excuse Denis' brain fade mind....what was he doing!

Old ground now thankfully! But I think he wanted to head it back to Patto, got the trajectory of the ball wrong, then still thought about it and forgot there'd be a lump coming up behind him.

All part of the day though. It was the final blast of breath from them. They went down like a pricked balloon after that.

Tommy saw the signs
- and the rest is history

From the ball leaving his foot, it seem to take an age to hit the back of the net.
Was like watching in slow motion.

The angle from behind the goal really shows how accurate the placement was. A few inches either way and it either hits the post or the keeper saves it.
Perfect.

Both goals had exactly that about them. Roberts’ pass to Mayenda couldn’t go anywhere else, and, as you say about Tommy’s shot.

I was Enzo Le Fee in that moment. Just collapsed.

I was walking along the deck of the cruise ship when I got this message. This was the moment I got. I didn’t see the goal or a score update. Just a WhatsApp from the club saying Tommmyyyyy Watsoooon!!!!

I will never ever forget that moment. I just froze then went down on my haunches.

Bloody hell, got goosebumps reading that.
I can just picture that exact moment you got that Tommy Watson message.
Priceless.

Wife doesn't do football at all, don't know where I got her from if I'm honest....
We were sat in our holiday hotel, I was relying on phone updates and unbeknown to me she's sat with her phone and is watching the clubs website when she asks deep into added on time "what does 1-2 to Sunderland mean"....she's only gone and got the goal before my phone pinged the little beauty.
Needless to say their was a quiet celebration going in in our quiet corner of the bar followed seconds later by a text from youngest daughter saying "You've done it dad well done"...and I never saw a ball being kicked.
Memories that last a lifetime.
