Correct decision but timing stinks. Why wasn’t it done right after the Brighton game? I really didn’t think the hacks were right with their gossip as I didn’t think even Spurs would wait so long after the season ended to make such a big decision. I genuinely expected him to be manager going into next season.
This doesn’t feel good at all. I’ve enough issues with and doubts about his game but I think he earned the right to build on the EL win in the summer and go again next season. He’s a good man, proper football, and I’ll always have a place for Ange. We’ll always have Bilbao. My guess would be Thomas Frank up next.
Ticks all the boxes and doesn't say anything negative or classless. I doubt he meant it, but there's a little dig in there at Conte, too.
In general I thought he was a borderline abysmal manager but ultimately he delivered something we’ve been craving for years so I’ll be forever grateful. Top bloke too, he’ll get another job very easily. As King has said though; right decision but terrible timing.
Five days after my first suggested date, but soon enough. Perhaps Powerspurs can have the summer off while everyone claims/suggests I am Levy, and not he. < the numbers don't lie >
It's the right decision. You can tell immediately by the players we're being linked to (another tranche of promising youngsters) that Levy put two and two together and came to the conclusion that we just cannot afford the level of expenditure a manager like Ange needs to be successful in multiple competitions. We need someone who can work within the parameters at the club as they exist under ENIC. Until they sell up and move on, that isn't going to change. Jose and Conte flopped here because of those parameters. Turns out (no one knew it at the time) Ange was another version of them but with a theoretically better brand of football. I have absolutely no confidence we'll make a good decision in appointing his successor, but doing this now with the whole summer ahead of us was the right thing at the right time.
I think the timing is eminently sensible. It was crucial that we gave time for the adrenaline and hangovers to wear off and then sit down and analyse the season in its entirety without emotion and alcohol clouding our judgement. Sounds like that's exactly what's happend and tbh I expect the announcement was ready earlier but the club didn't want to ruin Ange's time on holiday with his family, which is wholly understandable.
This will put tremendous pressure on the new man before he starts. Not a great idea IMO The last manager won a Euro trophy what will you do?
“Finish top 7 in the league, you’ll never sing that” I feel way more strongly about this than I thought I would now its happened. I get all the reasons why he’s been sacked but Ange had the stones to dream out loud and then delivered on his promise.
The painful reality is that nothing will really change until the chap hiring and then firing all these failures is gone, but we live in hope.
It’s funny though that Levy’s job is never under review. If it was, he’d have been sacked 15 times over the last 6-7 years.
absolutely. But him and Lange can both do one. just give free reign to Paratici to do what ever he wants, as long as it’s legal.
