I find the thanking him for a great day at Wembley a bit odd. We shouldn’t really have been in that position, we didn’t actually play that well, and it was about the only time he did grind out a result out of necessity.

I thank the fans for the great day out. We got a bit fortunate with the result.

It’s just a bit “thanks for underperforming and giving us the opportunity to scrape something”.

The whole "he put himself before the club" thing is a load of crap. The only thing that would have benefited his career is Saints getting results. The reason he was so stubborn is because he (wrongly) thought that was the best way to get results. I cant believe people genuinely think he knew changing his way of playing would help Saints get results but refused to do it because of how it looked.

Well that's exactly what Kompany did, and it got him a gig at Bayern. It's exactly what Russ did, and it got him a gig at Rangers. Two huge clubs.

So really, I absolutely do believe that.

It's not though. And like LTL said, he's just got the Rangers gig so clearly his style of play still has admirers despite last season. He put his ambitions above the club's needs.

He also basically said as much on a number of occasions. Even post event he said that his only regret was compromising his philosophy too much.

I would expect him to be fine in Scotland with Rangers. It’s not like the teams are all even in quality. I expect they will do well against most teams but (and this won’t please their fans) get smashed by Celtic and maybe someone like Hibs.

No, it got him sacked and massively hampered his chances of ever getting a PL job again. As for Rangers, I think our promotion season may have had something to do with that.

If it hampered his chances, maybe he should have adjusted how we played to grind out some results then?

I doubt he feels too bad having got the Rangers job. For me, he's a person that needs to fail twice for his own good. He won't see going to Rangers as having failed - he'll see it as a justification.

Sorry mate but massively disagree. Every job he's got since MK has been mainly due to the style of play he's implemented so it's clearly in his interests to maintain it.

It's also the reason he got the Rangers job. Don't see Sean Dyche getting offers from huge clubs like that.

Not to mention the fact he basically said he'd rather lose playing his way than change and get results kind of proves the point.

I don't agree with a lot of what he said last season, he was under a lot of pressure, but I think a lot of fans want to paint him in a bad light.

Yeah he did. Promoted teams literally have to grind results out to stand a chance of surviving. Just a ridiculous thing to say.

I think he means exactly what it sounds like tbh. Not wanting to grind out results because he doesn't believe in that philosophy.

I think that argument would have more merit if he'd ever shown a willingness to grind out results in his entire career which he hasn't.
