No I'm just not blaming anyone despite initially being critical of Howe because I believe dofs exist for a reason. Interestingly enough I simply realised that we don't have enough information to take a side.

It would appear most people have gone all in on Mitchell, but I'm not so sure given Ashworth had the same issue. It's the labelling Mitchell the bad guy I'm open minded about.

I'm of the opinion that there's no bad guy and we'll get clarity of how things work out over the next season or two.

Mitchell left Tottenham making lots of similar complaints. Maybe he's just a "my way or the highway" guy and the club are more in favour of EHs plans

We'll probably never know the full truth of what happened and there are always (at least) two sides to the story. But after both Ashworth and Mitchell departing, the club does need to have a proper rethink about the future stuicture and then make it very clear what the roles & responsibilities are - at least internally.

Club advertising (yes, actually advertising) for a set piece coach,

Is that how it works? Please apply here?! I would’ve thought a position like that would be something you seek people out for. Putting a job advert out seems…..weird.

Does seem slightly strange that Mitchell gets a new job so fast.

He’s a fairly forthright bloke, I wonder if he’ll let slip once he’s in a new role.

Mitchell has left us in the mud maybe?

A parting shot kind of mud or is everything really just fine?

There's also plenty from the people assuming Mitchell is a bad guy and Ashworth is a snake.

This is the thing I think almost everything is built on assumption and I'm keeping a slightly more open mind and not labelling Howe Mitchell or Ashworth anything negative.

I think it's power struggle Howes winning and he's got his wish.... There's no right or wrong assigned to that statement you've re posted and I also stated I hope he does well.

The only way Howe wins is he delivers transfers. He’s successful and he’s got credit.

But he now has to back this up with results in the transfer market. If that’s what he wanted.

He probably should have made Mitchell is ally because he’s got no one to blame if we don’t get the transfers in.

I love how with most clubs the fans and press talk about how if a manager has been supported in the transfer market they then have to back that up with results on the pitch and we're complaining about the exact opposite. It almost reads like a parody: "yes I know he's won trophies and got us into the Champions League but..."

Not having a go at you specifically here GG (even though I quoted your post) as I'm hearing it a lot but your post really seemed to encapsulate what I see as a surreal and modern take on football.

He was backed heavily to get the league cup and scrape back into the CL - he now has to use that success he achieved to improve the squad, to then go on to better things, and stabilise at the top of the PL. Thats the reality - and fans ambitions and expectations take the same journey. It’s not surreal, it’s what football and ambition should be about.

He also wins if he gets no transfers and still delivers Champions League

This all assumes he wanted Mitchell out, also assumes he is in full charge of transfers which of course he isn’t.
