Trafford is just as good and could well be our keeper for over ten years as well as being England no 1.

As for DCL, he's a good player. Most people I've seen have issues with him are down to their own masculine insecurities.
His numbers don't back that up, we're fighting on 4 fronts next season, after a punishing away game in the champions league and Isak is knackered, having DCL upfront against Arsenal, Liverpool, Villa etc isn't going to help us secure top 4 next season.

Leading the odds for Mbeumo with Man U, I guess that means we're favourites now assuming they go for Delap as well as Cunha. The guy from Star Trek is off to Arsenal apparently

However, he offers something different. EH likes to play 2 up top at times.

We have seen a young Ipswich striker reject us..... So who do you have in mind to play back up to Isak. Bearing in mind he has to be someone physical.

Been pondering this myself. There are very limited options when it comes to a CF because no one, at the top level, want's to come in and play second fiddle or even have to fight with Isak for the starting place. Either it's got to be a young prodigy that no one else is after, another role of the dice with someone like Osula or an older player who can do a job and happy to be in a winning team picking up a decent wage like DCL.

The fact there are still rumblings about Wilson signing a new "pay as you play" contract is probably showing that we don't feel there's much out there, worth spending £20-30m (at a minimum), to come in and warm the bench behind Isak. DCL depending on wages will do a job and at 28 gives you a five year younger version of Wilson basically. The only draw I could see would be to sign him on a free and then manage to sell him in a year or two for a few million to boost the kitty.

Two short of what’s needed, as usual.

Maybe short of what's needed but 6 quality 1st teamers is gonna be mega expensive. Going on the most recent rumours:

Garcia - £21m / Trafford - £30m
Guehi - £45m
Mbeumo - £55m
Pedro - £60m? (Knowing what Brighton are like and with him having a contract to 2028)

So that's £190m.

I don't expect us to get Pedro with that price tag so looking to Europe for a striker ready to go into the team we are still looking at £30 - £40m.
Maybe we don't bother with the striker as we'd have Osula, Gordon & Mbeumo (if he comes) that can operate as a striker.

That frees up a space for the 4th to be a squad CM or full back.

I just can't see us getting to 6 full 1st teamers with the money we can spend (I don't believe rumours of £250m. But if that is true then this whole post is irrelevant)

They have probably said we are after Pedro just so they can add another £20m on to his price tag when Chelsea actually sign him.

Mbeumo, obviously. I'd rather us pay £55m for him than £30m for Delap right now, Delap still developing and still potential, while Mbeumo is 25 and the real deal now, and he'll fit straight in.

So the rumour is that Howe uncharacteristically went to the media with his statement that “we needed to get our transfer business done as early as possible”.

Which was seen as a big pressure dink towards Mitchell who hasn’t got any players lined up. And Howe knew it.

Howe playing mind games to put Mitchell in a difficult position. And Mitchell resigned as a result.

Let’s see if we actually do with anyone in this mini window coming up.

Strange, because the reports coming out are that it had nothing to do with Howe. Mitchell wasn't turning up to work regularly, despite demanding the opposite of his staff, didn't make friends with the staff around him easily, and if anything caused issues with the admin staff etc.

Another report I've seen claims he came in with the idea of replacing Howe with Poch, never got his own way, thought he'd do a rebuild this summer and then realised Howe is untouchable for the time being and then left.

No mind games, Mitchell was just obviously **** at his job, and that's been apparent ever since he got here.

"Mitchell resigned as a result", no he was clearly asked to tender his resignation.

So was Murphy until Howe got a tune out of him this season.
It might help us improve, if we don't buy crap players and then pile all the pressure on Howe to improve them. No problem with giving him the chance to improve young players from the academy but don't go buying arrogant players, with an attitude problem and expect them to improve with us. He was awful in the Conference League final.

Or you get someone that can play across the front line.

Example last year we had gakpo nunez and jota playing cf but also playing on wings. This year slot preferred Diaz centrally but also played him left wing when gakpo wasn’t available and had Jota and Nunez centrally.

Look at most top teams and a lot of wide forwards can do a job at CF as an understudy for a few games.

Martinelli and Trossard at Arsenal

Marmoush at city - was never going to dislodge Haaland as number 9 but can do a job when needing to cover or play in other positions alongside.

Flexibility and versatility add important in this day and age with squads.

You seriously want to sign this???
He’d get injured putting his dress on.

Couldn't give a damn about this. What he chooses to wear is his business as far as I'm concerned.

The fact he consistently fails to put the ball in the back of the net when given opportunities by his team mates is why I don't want him

We have that in Osula but EH doesn't want to play him.

This entirely. Joelinton is possibly my favourite player of ours, he got done for drunk driving and I have to kind of put that to one side in my mind - that a selfish, illegal activity that could genuinely harm/kill others. Other footballers have been done for a variety of things and/or make questionable decisions in their homelife and people just turn a blind eye (Kyle Walker, etc).

DCL got involved in fashion and wore clothes I wouldn't choose to wear myself. I don't understand how fans have any issue with this on any level but certainly when balanced against the things we all seem happy to ignore.

Guy had scored 2 goals in 44 league games before last season. We used him as a sub and in some cup games, that's surely correct for a 21 year old who is still trying to improve and prove himself. For what it's worth I think he looks worth the £10m we paid for him, not convinced he's worth more just yet.
