Another pathetic batting display

 

That's a shambolic batting effort against a weakened Sussex attack, nowhere near a batting point. We need the bowlers to bail us out again.

 

Becoming a bit of a habit

 

More ducks than at a fairground shooting gallery, five and a single one out of eleven players, there needs to be a shake up, maybe bring in Orr and Organ.

 

We've rarely been a great red ball batting team in years gone by. But I'm struggling to remember a season where it's been this bad.

Brown can hold his head high. And Gubbins and Abbott have both been acceptable. But the rest have been poor, and I even include Dawson in that. Six batting points from seven games is disgraceful.

 

Brevis is scheduled to play in our next two CC games, at the end of June, so that's at least one change in the batting. Hopefully Stoneman goes out, and either Albert gets moved to open or he too goes out - I'm not fussed which.

 

England have certainly picked the wrong season to recall Dawson.

No idea why Lewis Gregory decided to put himself in as an opening batsman.

 

He did a decent enough job at it last week.

I really like the idea tbh. Most of Somerset's runs in recent years have come from the tail - so put the tail up at the top.

 

He did, and Josh Davey is doing okay today at number 2 as well! I wonder what Andy Umeed and Archie Vaughan are thinking. Will Gregory stick Craig Overton in next?

 

Obviously this hasn't continued. Standard.

 

Another reason why it will be hard for us to win the CC this season.

 

Win it? Survival would amount to success.

 

Mo is already up to 15 wickets, after just for 2.5 matches for Notts. He has the second best average in D1 of any bowler to have taken at least 10 wickets - even better than Kyle, who is bowling as well as ever.

 

Good to see us fly through the tail. But even so, this match is surely over. It should just be a case of whether Sussex can win by an innings; I suspect they will.

 

Can we please release Stoneman now?

 

Somerset chasing 263 to win, with 2 entire days to get them.

Rubbish signing, waste of money - and that's not said with any hint of hindsight. I never wanted him from the start.

Either White or Birrell have got a lot to answer for, in relation to the squad planning for this season. I wouldn't be shocked if at least one of them isn't here next season.
