The first job of any government is to protect its citizens, particularly the vulnerable. Allowing countless thousands of unknown, undocumented males to roam the streets is beyond dangerous. Not all migrants have dubious intentions, granted, but some most definitely will. It would be cheaper and far more sensible for the army to deal with this issue, at least until they have a grip on things.
And how exactly would the army deal with it any differently. These migrants ditch any paperwork they may have before getting to the UK, so we have to process them to see whether they have the right to remain or even where to send them back to. I’m not sure that the army could deal with the processing any differently as that’s not really what we train them for.
For a start, they can build camps with suitable facilities, such as soup kitchens and shower blocks. This would save millions of pounds, if not billions. The use of hotels is unsustainable. As you say, the migrants ditch their documents, meaning it is madness to allow them to roam free before we even know who they are. Fact is, this situation is a threat to national security, so it must be dealt with accordingly. Why bother having an army if it isn't deployed for such matters?
There seems to be precious little outcry to the French approach to housing the migrants in reception centres with hotels as a temporary measure when the centres are full. It's got to be one of a number of significant factors why they choose to cross the channel.
The Nick Brown Scandal: To do what NB was accused of, which led to his suspension, would surely need alleged victim(s) 1) IF there are no victim(s) willing to support the allegations - why wasn't he reinstated pdq 2) IF victim(s) did exist, Labour had a duty to report this to the police pdq - no one is above the law & not to do so would be unacceptable by any political party 3) why was there a 15 month (see points 1 & 2) 'so called' internal / 'so called' independent investigation & what were the findings 4) why did NB suddenly quit the party - what dodgy deal was done? 5) Keir Starmer & NB covering-up the details from the British people is outrageous IT ALL STINKS !! What are Labour hiding? https://x.com/QprEver/status/1913475097060413714
