I think there's no more risk with vvd than any player who might have a leg snapped off in the morning (which is covered by insurance) I'm convinced he can last 2 years and if really necessary adapt his game if he loses pace radically. Yes there's risk in salah. He's getting slower, not sure if he is Kurt slow right now but he is aged Kurt slow just yet. Dirk was never quick but he was effective. It was sad to see his last season where he looked like cheisa with his legs spinning but going nowhere amd being just ran past. Salah has means to be effective but he isn't going to beat anyone for pace and will have to further adapt. His contract was necessary as there's other places to change first. I'm hopeful he won't play too much the season after next and we will be waving bye and thanks at the end. We need him next year and I think (but am not as confident) that he will get 20 goals again. These contracts put hughes on 2/6 so he has work to do. A huge summer ahead, and there's no way fans should accept that it's a huge summer already due to two contracts. The club MUST set itself up for 2 years time.
To be fair Salah’s top speed this year is pretty much same as has been last 3. I think he’s definitely adjusted his game though and can see that with the number of assists. It almost seems like players are giving him a little yard because been scared of being beaten by him and because of that he’s instead been picking out players with passes into the box (more than a hopeful cross) which has upped his assists and creativity.
More rumours of Darwin being off in the summer. Think best for all as doesn’t fit in for slot and just can’t quite nail it here. Will never fault the effort he’s shown and the vital goals he has scored but if we can get £50m+ for him then take it and reinvest in a new number 9.m
I think he's done thst but he has not lasted 90 but played 90 and is paying for it. I think he isn't pressing as much at all and thats deliberate for the team to keep him going. I just think it'll hit like a cliff one day so who knows when
A lot more defenders have been prepared to stand him up this season; if he tries to go past the defenders are confident of keeping up with him.
Which is why I think he’s changed his game in creating a yard and delivering balls into the box I think what’s really interesting is assists can be misleading, someone touched a free kick sidewards for someone to shoot is an assist. Someone passing it 5 yards before player beats 4 men is an assist. But when you look at Salah’s assist this year I think there were only 2 that you’d say were actually chance creating. One to Nunez when just knocked it down line and he cut in to shoot and another which can’t remember. The rest have been proper chance creation with dangerous passes into the box or onto players for 1v1s. Shows how he has really adapted his game to get the best
Totally agree on that bit It is also the main crux of my indecision VVD is the same for me but if he has a top quality partner he can be covered imho
Rumours Trent is having second thoughts about moving to RM. Perhaps linked to rumours Bellingham wants a move. Probably rubbish and he will go to RM anyway.
Big men and jump and head and they can play offside. Hyppia had a swansong season, we was thst ****ing slow so he just attacked everything and let carragher sweep up the crumbs. Vvd will be fine imo. He's a unit, he's like walking into a solid wall. He can attack everything in the air but he can also organise. Keep the full backs in front of him and let him just not even try run back if thsts what the situation is.
Will be interesting if anyone takes the plunge on Mbeumo. £40m plus but guy scored and creates constantly and prob only behind Salah and Saka as best right winger in prem atm. Would have been number 1 to replace Salah, too good to come in and be an understudy but would be a brilliant addition. If he was a bit more versatile playing in the middle or down the left
Totally agree. Plus, Salah did the right thing in putting the delivery in early. You don't always have to beat your man, just put it in the zone that makes defenders face their own goal.
Further to these "rumours" Huijsen supposedly 50 mil Kerkez supposedly 40mil Ekitike supposedly 70mil And throw in cherki for supposedly 20 just cos. 180million. Now if someone can find about 100 backchat be great Nunez 50 from saudi Kelleher 15 from newcastle Morton 10mil from anyone still interested Just need another 25 amd im sure selling Elliott, Endo, quansah and whoever else someone wants to say will cover it off. I'm sure lfc have different ideas somewhere along the way
Kerkez would be a steal at £40m imo. Am not sure about the rest. It’s normally a couple of up and coming kids but I do agree with one of your previous posts; this is the window where we have to buy for +1 or 2 years away and one of the most important we’ve had in a while.
Cherki is out of contract Reckon w night see both Diaz and Nunez leave if right offers come along. Neither are first choice. Bajcetic chiesa tsimikas prob all up for sale as well
Is he? Some website reporting 20million as he is nearly out. I don't know. You are probably right about those 3 as well.
After barely any signings last year. Back to back CL campaigns will help the bank and knowledge of a good income this year from the new CL format where we made much more from the group stages with the 7 wins. all the talk of a big summer, I think the club will be willing to really back slot after he’s got his eye in on the squad. I like how we didn’t make wholesale changes last summer. Let slot cast his eye over everyone, work out who can and can’t be trusted and give him and Hughes a year working together to get each others ideas.
Ah maybe not then. I thought was up but could be wrong. Tbh, I don’t think he’s lfc type, prob doesn’t pass the not a dickhead test, as seemed to have had attitude problems in the past
Yeah I can see us cashing in on Diaz as would be a fairly chunky sale, he’s on around 70k I think? And doesn’t look like we’re interested in doubling that up. Love Diaz, but could see logic behind the above
We lost 50 odd million so this 24/25 season i think will be a massive profit despite it being slightly disapponting (cl lost 10mil on pens by going out at last 16) I think they will probably do deals for July 1st if there are release clause OR if Bournemouth want to balance a book or two before that but it will be spread over the two seasons of 24/25 and 25/26. I don't see us sitting on our hands until August. It would be a travesty if we do as we have a full preseason with everyone this time and you want to put the key men in place for day 1. I reckon kerkez and Ekitike (if real) will be done early. Everyone else will be fighting for a place. I'm sure there will be a surprise when we do move.
He wants to be paid. He's agent hasn't stopped. I think slot might want someone who could play off either side to come in to replace him.
