Valid for opposition, not valid for government backed people.

If Acun is a friend of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, I don't see there being much of a problem, maybe slap on the wrist, small fine and an apology - it won't happen again m'lud. If he isn't a friend then...

Can’t be true. I was told on here months ago I was spreading malicious rumours about our illustrious leader being a crook who was in serious trouble in Turkey. Another ‘ITK bullshitter’ I was called :emoticon-0105-wink:

Hard to tell from that article how serious this is.

Put it this way, if he was trying to buy us now and not three years ago, he wouldn’t have a sniff at passing the EFL’s fit-and-proper-person test.

What it means for City, if he’s found guilty, could be dire even if he isn’t sentenced to jail time. His reputation will be significantly damaged and the financial situation at the club will be not be secure, to say the least. I think he will have to sell the club.

If that's true then he'll be forced to sell in the same way Reading's owner is being forced to sell. Fit and proper isn't at a point in time anymore.

Good point. He may well be forced to sell the club and given a deadline if found guilty.

It could, in a way, work in our favour. Historically, City haven’t been a particularly attractive prospect for potential owners because we don’t own our own stadium and our existing training facilities and infrastructure is way behind a lot of other Championship clubs. However, if the EFL forced Acun to sell the club, it would be a at a knockdown price which could make us more attractive to potential buyers. Under normal circumstances, few people have both the money or the interest to buy City for more than the £30 million Acun paid. The Healeys are significantly more wealthy than Acun (and the Allams too), they’re local but they’ve never had any serious interest in purchasing City. They probably never will but someone else may see it as a good investment for below what Acun paid.

Wouldn’t the club and its new owners still owe Acun over £50m in loan repayments though?

Healys won’t be interested, they started a kitchen business in America, and it’s not going very well. There was all sorts of rumours they were having to sell Water Estate etc. Nothing confirmed though, and probably just rumours and conjecture.

They also aren’t stupid enough to get involved with a money haemorrhaging football club.

That couldn't be further from the truth. The kitchen company Malcom started in America was called Mills Pride and he sold it for £800m about fifteen years ago, he then moved back here and started the West Retail Group, which bought (and then sold for a large profit) ebuyer.com and launched Wren Kitchens, which currently has an equity value of £272m. All of which is fairly academic, as he couldn't be less interested in football.

I more meant - I have no idea how reputable this news site is and it doesn’t really put much stock in the charge itself and how likely this is for him to actually be found guilty.

Im assuming there is truth in it - and regardless it’s clearly not good news. But at the same time - I have a hard time believing Acun will actually go to prison for 5 years.
