What a ****ing boxer. So inextricably linked to the greatest to ever do it and a golden age of boxing with several fighters who would almost certainly dominate almost any other era at their peak.

Absolute legend of the sport. One of the hardest hitters ever. Really enjoyed his pundit work and interviews when he retired. Seemed like a lovely bloke.

I recall when he lifted Frazier off the floor with an uppercut. Terrifying. One of the hardest punches ever.

He was the hardest puncher ever in my humble opinion.

Rip George. Like @Evil Jimmy Krankie my big memory was the Rumble in the jungle with Ali. Massive man and a genuine champion.

A real character, incredible boxer and a touch of humility I always found endearing ...

... he was also quite witty I thought, rest in peace.

(BTW does anyone know if this will affect the warranty on my grill?)

RIP George. A gentleman, a champion and a character. He seemed a genuinely warm and engaging bloke, as well as being one of the genuine greats. The show he did with William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw and Henry Winkler, Better late than never, was great. Very funny and the genuine warmth and affection for each other shone through. The Shatner did cross the line once...

RIP George, my condolences to his family and friends.

A fantastic boxer whose ability stood out at a time when the sport was overloaded with talent.

    RIP Big George.

He fought in the greatest era of Heavyweights in my opinion. Ali, Frazier, Norton and he, then latterly Holmes. The way he demolished Frazier and Norton was quite the thing. Ali was too clever though, a different level of boxer.

Out of the ring a real gent. Not every boxer can say that. He had the respect of everyone in the game. He leaves great memories for boxing fans of all ages.

    Another legend has gone.

To young to see his fights live, but have watched the rumble in jungle many many times.

    RIP Big George
