It's been a hell of a weekend results wise, win on Tuesday and that'll be a while world of pressure off our shoulders.

We need to take advantage of this and go for it on Tuesday.

Our lack of goals still worries me though. A goal a game really isn’t good enough, especially given our tendency to concede in the majority of games.

As magnificent as yesterday’s result was, it needs to be remembered that the goal came from their error. We barely created anything ourselves otherwise.

Not scoring is the reason we’re in the position we are; we really need to start finding the back of the net more regularly.

Agreed. If you look at the teams around us in the table posted a few posts up, they've all scored roughly the same number of goals as us. We've actually been relatively tight at the back compared to some of those teams. If we could master the art of nicking an extra goal when we're on top in games, we'd be well clear.

The bottom three are on 28,29 and 30 points. Us and Cardiff are on 33. No team is pretty ****ed and plenty of teams are at risk of going down.

It doesn't matter how many points they're on if they're not adding to them though. Plymouth have only added two points in their last three games - the only sample size worth examining as I'm sure you're aware - which is less than a point a game. They're sunk.

On a serious note though, just as our three game winning run under Walter was a blip that some got too carried away with, Plymouth winning two games in the league is not necessarily indicative of much either, especially with the way they beat WBA. I think in 7-10 days the relegation picture will be a lot clearer but I would be shocked if Luton or Plymouth are showing much signs of life at that point.

I’m shocked how **** Luton are, keep waiting for them to kick into gear . Starting to think they won’t now <laugh> .. they were quite unlucky in the premier league , often losing late on to the top teams . Hard to fathom how they are now so ****e, I didn’t think they had lost that many players ?

i thought similar
but in reality, they had an awful prem season
26 points
we never got close to that low in any of our seasons

maybe it is becasue the gap is becoming bigger.. ipswich need 9 points from 12 games to match it, i highly doubt the 3 relegated teams reach 30 points this season

southampton have 9 points this season, the contrast from winning loads last season to this must be so jarring..
its not worth it for a fans pov is it

Thing is about the gap , teams tend to hardly spend and just accept their fate like I think Burnley And sheff United did a few tears back or go the other way and spend 150m on a load of ****e and lose a lot of the team spirit that got you up . I do think it’s achievable for teams to go up and stay up , just need that middle ground of spending money wisely to compete and also keeping some of what got you up , failing that just find an ageing Brazilian maestro capable of smashing in 30 yarders - easy ..

thats the thing also, with transfer costs these days
its 'easy' to go and spend 100m and not actually have a particuarly good team that may stay up

Agreed, as I've stated on here several times, I don't want us to get promoted the prem league. I would rather be competitive in the championship than be a whipping boy in the prem like Southampton.
But .... fairy tales do happen, Fulham & Notts Forest have shown that it is possible to get promotion & mix it with the big boys, but that's the exception rather than the norm

nottm forest spent a fortune and got 'lucky' the 3 promoted teams last season were **** or they coulda gone down last season, they even got a points deduction

a 2 game swing and forest could be in the championship now, instead of theyre going for the champions league
crazy aint it

this point of view blags my head though, the reason its good to be in the competitive league is cos you have a chance to win more games, and winning games is good as it pushes you up higher in the league and you get the excitement of getting closer to the top 6/ 2 , but if you dont want the rewards of that, why is it exciting?
if they made it a closed shop and you couldnt get promoted or releagted it wouldnt matter if you won or lost every week and that excitement and competitive edge has gone
i know lots of people feel like you but it just doesnt make sense to me personally..

I don't think anyone is asking for it to be a closed shop or any other form of doing away with promotions and relegation, just that football is more enjoyable in the competitive championship than it is getting beat most games in the Premier league.
