Patto is far from perfect, but there's a significant amount of 'what have you done for me lately' when it comes to him. Didn't cover himself in glory last night, but made crucial saves in games recently. I'd be absolutely fine with him being our keeper next season if we're still in the Champ, but I'd also be comfortable that we could generate a decent fee for him, and replace him pretty well. His time at SAFC is gonna have to be limited with Matty Young coming up on the rails anyway.
Speaking of Matty, it's a real shame he's not playing more out on loan. I understand any matchday experience is beneficial but playing more would only help him.

Sunderland are among other Championship clubs targeting Hansa Rostock centre-back Ahmet Gurleyen, German outlet Fussball Transfers has claimed.

Now, according to reports in Germany, one player on the Sunderland radar is centre-back Ahmet Gurleyen.

It is claimed by Fussball Transfers that SAFC are among the sides in the Championship keeping an eye on the 25-year-old amid his performances for Hansa Rostock.

Gurleyen only joined the club, who play in Germany’s third-tier, last summer. He’s under contract until the end of the 2026/27 season and has played at a number of levels in the German game since coming through the FSV Mainz academy.

Are we expecting a major overhaul if we don’t go up, seen on twt people fearing everyone will leave.

Folk said the same last season

We will likely lose more than we did last season but you just never know with KLD and KS tho - seem to be able to retain players
I think we’ll likely receive more in funds this time too, so be able to strengthen depth with a bit more quality.

Unless the player asks to leave most will stay. Look at Clarke… hardly doing well

IF we don’t go up I think we lose Jobe this summer. The others will depend on contract negotiations ie Neil, Cirkin and Watson. It’s quite feasible for us to pull in £40-50m if we lose 2-3 perhaps allowing us to raise wage budgets and compete with the parachute payment clubs. Futures bright either way for me.

I'd honestly be devastated to lose Neil for less than £20 million given his form at the minute, he's growing into the midfielder many of us hoped. He's turning into a captain too. If we can get him to sign a contract before the end of the season, it could be crucial. Unfortunately, I don't see it.

I still think Patta is fine for where we are at, I can't see many clubs being interested in him anyway despite the rumours. I think most journos just see an English goalie of a certain age playing loads of game at a good level and start going crazy. Whilst his distribution isn't good, I'd be fine with that if he was more commanding and out quicker.

Yeah, like you say without promotion that seems as if it'll be the case. For this level I still think if we are smart we can bring in a player that would keep us functioning at a similar enough level as a unit but not quite at Dans level, Caspar Jander for example is doing similar things for Nurnberg this season.

Agree about patto, hes ok enough for the most part unless we go up.

Gray was younger than Jobe and a lot more versatile. He’ll be a top player, has been playing out of position for months on end at 18 y/o. Also, I’m sure Rodon went the other way so it wasn’t a straight £40m deal.
He is only 6 months younger than Jobe and Jobe is as versatile and in a more attacking sense, which usually commands a more premium fee. Add in his name and I would be very surprised if KLD etc are not looking at a similar fee.

They can keep their hands firmly ****ing off of him...

That said if we don't go up I reckon a few PL clubs might come knocking :emoticon-0107-sweat
