Apparently the uks army is too small to be of any use Even as peacekeepers Guess we'll be relying on the yanks for years to come Going to come at a price though
Years of cutbacks is rendering our military capabilities almost irrelevant, unless we want to go nuclear...and that's ancient. We'd struggle to re-take The Falklands if that kicked off now. Not sure what the recruitment figures are these days, but one of my sons pals is off to join the Paras next week....no idea what stupid fool put that idea in his head
Targets for recruitment have been missed in almost every year since 2010 Do five years in the British army for citizenship if you come in by dingey Stroller would like that one Foreigners doing the **** jobs brits dont want to do for crap money Mind you as most of them pretend to be fleeing war zones maybe not such a good idea
That short arsed, couch humping VP Vance is just another Trump toadie, towing the MAGA line. I thought better of him after reading "Hillbilly Elegy" (plus film), especially with all the anti immigration propaganda and him having a supportive Indian sweetheart who became his wife.
The one thing that Vance nailed was the continual EU inaction, endless going around in circles and being overly reliant on the US. As Strolls said, time to **** or get off the pot. Put boots and real arms on Ukraine soil once and for all or don't lament when Putin gets the 'win'
Just seen this message from the Mexican President, fantastic if true, it will teach the orange tw*t a lesson if it all comes true: Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum addresses Trump: “So, you voted to build a wall. Well, dear Americans, even if you don’t understand much about geography, since for you America is your country and not a continent, it is important for you to know, before the first brick is laid, that there are 7 billion people beyond that wall. But since you don’t really know the term “people,” we will call them “consumers.” There are 7 billion consumers ready to replace their iPhones with Samsung or Huawei devices in less than 42 hours. They can also replace Levi’s with Zara or Massimo Duti. In less than six months, we can easily stop buying Ford or Chevrolet cars and replace them with Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault or BMW, which are technically better than the cars they produce. These 7 billion people can also stop subscribing to Direct TV, and we don't want to do that, but we can stop watching Hollywood movies and start watching more Latin American or European productions that have better quality, message, cinematic techniques and content. Although it may sound incredible, we can skip Disney and go to the Xcaret resort in Cancun, Mexico, Canada or Europe: there are other great destinations in South America, East America and Europe. And even if you don't believe it, even in Mexico there are better hamburgers than McDonald's and they have better nutritional content. Has anyone seen pyramids in the United States? In Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Sudan and other countries there are pyramids with incredible civilizations. Find out where to find the wonders of the ancient and modern world. None of them in the US. Shame on Trump, he would have bought them and sold them! We know that Adidas exists, not just Nike, and we can start wearing Mexican sneakers like Panam. We know more than you think. We know, for example, that if these 7 billion consumers don't buy their products, there will be unemployment and their economy will collapse (within the racist wall) to such an extent that they will beg us to tear down this ugly wall. We didn't want to, but.... You want a wall, you get a wall. Sincerely yours."
I like this. In Canada there's a new movement called BABA - Buy Anything But American. Consumer power can be impactful. Tesla seems to be feeling it.
So those who warned that Trump would endanger democracy in the US have been proved wrong - it's far worse than that. With his cosying up to Putin, blaming Ukraine for getting invaded, and his minions promoting the far right in Europe, he's a danger to democracy the World over. It seems clear that he's likely to renege on the USA's obligations under article 5 of the NATO treaty, abandoning partner Nations in the event of an attack and giving Putin carte blanche to continue his imperial manoeuvring. He's also declared his own imperial ambitions over Canada, Greenland, Gaza and the Panama Canal. We should now consider the US an adversary, rather than a partner. Perhaps even an enemy.
Is Starmer really despised by most people here? Gets a lot of heat from Reform and the sort of stupid ****s who fap for Farage (plus their online bots) and the tiny minority of Corbynites but I think most people either have no opinion, mildly dislike him, will give him a chance after the absolute ****e that came before or are just glad to have someone vaguely competent and not entirely in it for themselves.
This Ukrainian situation looking pretty dangerous . Calling Zelinsky a dictator who started the war. Trump is so seriously disillusioned ...it just cannot be real
Trump is effectively aligning the US with Putin's Russia. All of Europe will be endangered by this. It comes to something when China's Xi comes across as the voice of reason.
