Think she's been on the phone in on Talksport after one of our games before. Travels over from Blackpool way. She never mentioned anything then. Can't say I've heard anything in the ground personally.
I was listening to it.
They had a discussion about gay footballers, after the ref that just came out.
She rang in to say her and her daughter are Sunderland supporters. She hears the homophobic chants ‘every match’. Her daughter is gay and not bothered, but the caller said she takes it up with those chanting regularly.
Thing is, I can’t recall ever hearing a homophobic chant from our fans. I’ve only been going 40 years mind….

Yep a huge disservice to our proper supporters. I know who she is.
If she hears ''chants'' (suggesting its groups of fans ) ( and which sounds doubtful) every time and she sits in same place- then maybe she should report to club instead of giving the whole fanbase a bad name
Last homophobic chant I heard was the one which starts “The Gallowgate, is always full” back in the early 90s at Rker!
Season card/ticket at rocker from 86 and at the SoL from opening until last season, never heard one!
(gave up season card due to singing taking off massively!)
I do recall one about the Watford chairman
but it's common knowledge that Elton IS homosexual

Even during big games I can’t recall chanting on the SOL concourses …
… away games are different but it’s the young lads flinging beer and trying out the new songs.
Persistent ‘hate chants’ would’ve been picked up on by now, supporters and stewards are pretty keen to act on even minor things these days. I’ve seen someone removed from family area for calling the referee a tosser …

It would be truly bizarre if Sunderland was the only place …
