Does anyone know much about Hull 4 Heroes?

I am planning on doing a personal challenge this year....errr, for personal reasons. But its one that could hopefully attract a fair bit of sponsorship (i work for a large organisation). But given i have a military background i thought why not raise something for a military charity...and bonus that it's local.

Are they legit, does most of the money get to the right place etc. Appreciate they all have overheads. Hopefully you get what I mean.

For the last 5 years i've being heavily involved in the fight to stop the veterans village being built by Hull4Heroes. It's fair to say this as not being a even fight and to this day HCC have still not answered questions about various conflicts of interest inside HCC and H4H. Far to many things that have gone on to list but ask yourself this how many building firms get away with doing only 2 out of 6 Pre commencement planning conditions ? H4H have just got away with this and apperently this was good enough for a materail start ?

Before H4H there used to be another much more longer standing veteran's charity in Hull but because this other charity opposed the veterans village they have since found there funding cut by HCC.

Even the way the land was identified by NPS Humber ( who manage HCC land and property) to the benefit of H4H is iffy when you consider the project manager at H4H is the very same project manager at NPS Humber.

Wrong location, they got offered the Lawns site in Cottingham on a plate but turned it down flat even though part of that was a former barracks and everything about the place including infracture and local amenities would of being perfect...the issue was they wouldn't of got this land as a freebie unlike HCC under Labour who were planning to give H4H the Garrowby Orchard site for free.

The Garrowby Orchard site was originally given to local residents to look after and care for before the H4H planning application was even tabled, why should this area now be taken off local residents after the hard work they have since put into it ?

The land floods every winter and is currently under HCC mapping as part of the city's flood resilent green areas. Any thing built on that land is a disaster waiting to happen with residents houses the first to flood should or when anything undoubtably goes wrong.

On a practical note H4H have 300k in the kitty, it is estimated up to £20 Million will be needed !

Thanks Newland. I will have a dig into it before making a decision.

Shame, it would on paper ticked boxes. Military and local.

Little Johnny brought home his history test result, it was 90.
His father was so happy with it.
However, his mother, Karen, just couldn’t believe her son got 90 in history.
After taking a closer look at the marks, she found that the handwriting styles of the 9 and the 0 are different.
“Johnny, you are so busted. Tell me, did you add the 0 to your marks?”
“No, mum, I didn’t.”
“I am asking you once more. Did you add that fxxking 0 to your marks?”
“Mum, no, I didn’t add that 0”.
” OK, as you’re not telling the truth, you are grounded for 1 month.”
“Mum, no, please, no, I really didn’t add that 0.”
” This is your last chance kid, tell me the truth.”
“……. I just added the 9 to it.”
