Newcastle don't own the "Stadium Land" (St.James Park) any way
Only the land to the south of the Gallowgate End

so someone at the Atheltic has the wrong info or just bull ****ting

 

I think what they're saying is that unlike other clubs the owners can't sell the current land to help fund the project.

The article is very negative though and they will already have spent probably millions getting this far.

Perhaps it's all deliberate leaks to help soothe those who are fixated on the current ground.
