they may announce that he’s available for Saturday to try and shift a few extra tickets but then only bring him on for 5 mins
I think you are over thinking it too much as you aren't keen on the deal We will have a similar deal in place for Mepham and there wasn't any complains about that deal We are covering wages by likely paying a loan fee, that's very different to signing a new player and offering him a lot more than the rest of the team
Your argument seems to ignore the ambition young players may have, when they see a talented player coming into the club, being paid a better salary, they can be inspired to think that if they can improve their performance, the club may be persuaded to offer them something similar?
I am really excited by the signing but more by the ambition it shows. What I’m slightly nervous about is that it’s been a little too over hyped. It’s bloody high expectations he’s got to live up to now. But I’m loving every second of it
I don’t expect miracles from him just 3 goal contributions a game and 100% tackle succession will do me
I think they’d be right to be pissed off if we brought somebody in on more than double our highest earner, and I think that’s the point @FellTop is making, which I agree with. I just don’t think we are paying ELF’s wages at all. Roma will continue paying him his contracted wages and we will have agreed a monthly compensation payment to them which happens to cover them, so they’re not out of pocket.
I don't think that is too much of a concern, truthfully. Players would expect new contracts as a reward if we get up, regardless of signing Le Fee. Unless the club don't think Ballard, for example, will cut in the Premier League, I'd expect his salary to be massively increased, certainly over £30k per week, maybe more and in line with Le Fees'. The same would apply across the board. The only ones I wouldn't expect to see get huge pay rises are ones the club don't think will cut it and are relaxed about moving on, unless they prove themselves up to it. Let's face it, Ipswich are reportedly paying all of Kalvin Phillips £130k per week salary along with Jack Clarke on approximately £30k per week & Liam Delap on reputedly £40k per week.
I dont think it has anything to do with me not being keen on the deal tbh. I do not believe we have an agreement in place for Mepham do we? If not then not the same. I understand we arent paying Isidors wages? Had it been suggested we had paid a significant loan fee, but not stated the number, that would have been different. As it stands, what is being posted on her is claiming we are covering his full wages. If that is true I stand by my concerns. They may prove unfounded, and I wont let it get in the way of me cheering the lad on. But I dont feel I am overthinking much frankly.
Thw wages this year are sort of irrelevant, it's basically a loan fee. The key figure is what we have agreed for him next year if we go up, I'd guess that's less than what he's currently on at Roma. Also, the club don't have to tell Dan how much they're paying Le Fee. That information will never be made public, and we're run incredibly well nowadays. I would be absolutely shocked if we've blown our wage cap out of the water for him. Presumably, the amount we've offered to Le Fee if promoted will be within the amount we had already planned to be our wage cap next year if promoted anyway. Therefore, it won't affect what we can offer Neil if we go up. I imagine the current contract negotiations will be structured as £x for the rest of the year with an increase to £y (which will be around the same amount as what Le Fee would get) if we get promoted.
I think it’s just the language fabrizio Romano used mate. He said we are covering his salary which means Roma aren’t out of pocket. But doesn’t mean we are actually paying it
I do also share the surprise that we’d pay c£1.5m for a player who could play a maximum of 23 league and playoff games under this arrangement. it’s a hell of an investment and again shows ambition.
I agree with your second para mate....I think we're a well run club now,and we aren't going to do anything stupid. I still stand by my point though,in answer to your first para....most of these players are young and would see the chance to play and train alongside a bigger money signing as an opportunity, rather than to be pissed off.
Seems to be an air of "what the f**k", around this potential signing from pockets of the football World.
I’d also be perhaps concerned at this investment if it was 30/31 January and it was a panic buy because somebody got injured. the fact it’s first week January and we are under no real pressure to sign another midfielder, suggests it’s a thought out and considered transaction rather than an out of character one (like Grigg or defoes return)
So we aren't paying anything for Mepham or Isidor? We are playing loan fees for both and covering some of their wages, it's just been in the media as much. We haven't been given any of our loan players for free This deal isn't any different, it's just a higher profile deal Not meaning for this to argumentive @FellTop, so please don't take it that way as you are one of the posters I respect the most
Was thinking about taking the bairn straight from school to the airport, seen someone wrote earlier that he'll probably go straight in via the private terminal so more than likely won't see him so probably pointless if anyone knows otherwise.
Congleton also spent 2 years at Atalanta helping them shape the squad that is in 2nd place in Serie A and won the Europa League. He signed Hojland for £20m and sold him for £70m. He brought in Lookman who scored a hat trick in that final and spent £22m on Ederson who is currently being linked with £60m moves to Real Madrid and Man Utd. The bloke clearly has something about him (though we didn't see it). I think our club was such a mess from top to bottom during that period that it was a challenging environment for everyone where most underperformed their talent.
