Giles never attacks the goal line. He just casually turns back and gives a tappy pass to a defender.

Why is he so highly rated?

This was driving me mad today, it was about 70 minutes in before he actually tried to take his man on and he actually did quite well and got a decent cross in. Then he did it again on about 75 minutes, then reverted to just passing to McLoughlin again.

McLoughlin’s a League One player, far too slow making decisions.

Blackburn are proof how weak the league is this year, they were awful and they’re in the play-offs. That alone gives me confidence that with some motivation, confidence and luck we’ll be fine.
Well drilled 'awful' or just 'awful'?

For what it's worth,I thought they were pretty well organised, played for each other and ultimately the weather was never going to make for a good game of Football. They carried no passengers,we have several, and at this point in time I'd snatch their 'awful' off them with both hands...

Omur seems to be struggling this season, but he keeps being stuck out wide and last season under Rosenior he looked fine playing through the middle. I reckon Ruben will get him going again. Sinik we can't call because he's just been injured all the time but presumably he'll get a chance at some point if he doesn't splinter his pancreas or whatever.

Bedia looks way off what we need, I'd send him back in January and get a proper front man in. We need some proper pace in the side, we're just so slow and ponderous.
Admire your patience with Omur but he was brought in as an attacking, creative, number ten. In the time he's been here how many goals and assists has he provided? Not having checked, I'd guess zero on both. I think we deserve better.

Oh well. Life goes on.
I will bid you good evening as I have to depart and collect a rather game young filly.

Big match stats
Goals: 0-1
Shots: 14-5

Off-target: 4-2
Blocked shots: 4-2
Touches in the box: 17-11
Fouls: 10-14
Corners: 9-2
Possession: 59%-41%

Nice to see the team had more possession again, it makes a vast difference. Also lovely to see the players getting a big cuddle from the coach at the end - that's what he's there for. A fantastic effort all round.

I was there. It was February 16th, 1971. I had to look up the actual date! I was in the South Stand. There was a small barrier, big enough for three people, on the left and we used to lean against that. I was surprised when it was abandoned. The teams went in at half time and didn't come out again. It took the announcer a while to tell us. There were no refunds either. We had absolutely coasted through the game. Blackburn were relegation fodder that year. The rematch was a complete disappointment. They defended and we couldn't find a way through. It was one of a few performances like that that stopped us going up.
Yeah - I remember walking back to Anlaby and the fog had lifted completely. Terry Neill scored a rare one for us.

Possession hasn’t really been an issue, just what we do with it.
Today we actually got shots on target & got the other goal scoring opportunities to more than the opposition.
We still need to do a lot more in games, obviously, but it was definitely a step in the right direction.
Still too slow in the build up, no attempt to get the ball forward quicker on several occasions.
Overall a positive for me, despite the result!

Blackburn, like most who've beaten us this season don't really seem to have anything about them, but then again we are so easy to play against, esp once we gift the opposition a one goal lead.....sit back watch us pass side to side with no threat and wait for the opportunity to break on us.

Pandur had absolutely **** all to do today, don't think he made a save, no crosses to come for or anything? Never looked in danger aside from Macca slicing it in in the first half, yet despite that we only tested their goal from outside the area. Toothless going forwards, no pace no idea.

Hull City caretaker manager Andy Dawson told BBC Radio Humberside:

"I thought first half we played some really good stuff and I was really pleased with the lads. We knew it was going to be difficult but some of the opportunities we had were really good. We just need one of those to go in.

"I think Ruben [Selles] has seen a side with a lot of natural ability in it. Can we be more clinical? Yes. But we will get ready to go Monday morning and hopefully hit the ground running on Wednesday [against Watford].

"Ruben has been brilliant in terms of letting us crack on and get a result today, which obviously we didn't. But he came in to the dressing room after and had a chat with the lads and brought a freshness.

"There was enough of what he has seen today with the quality of play we have in the building to hopefully start climbing the table."

Blackburn head coach John Eustace told BBC Radio Lancashire:

"A lot of their shots were from outside the box today which was good, but we knew we were coming up against a really talented team in Hull who have a lot of excellent technicians.

"They are a really good footballing team so we knew it was going to be a tough game.

"So I am really proud of the boys and the way they dug in and kept another clean sheet."

Same story, I don’t think we played bad in fact other than the own goal did our keeper have another save to make. I didn’t think that much to them however they have the points. The problem we have is that there isn’t a lot between many of the teams in this league. We always seem to make a mistake and can’t score it’s a recipe for disaster. Going forward we have to find a way to score and bringing in a forward is never easy when bottom of the league. First thing we have to do though is learn to keep a clean sheet. Definitely not an easy job for the new manager.

Bloody weather . Cold and wet today even though I’m on row Y !!! No confidence no one wants to take responsibility our forwards are all pathetic although we knew that already and Palmer should never of been subbed off … new manger has one he’ll of a job on his hands

I’ve been saying this for ****ing years and I’m sick of it myself but the midfield is unbelievably soft. Slater and Puerta as a double pivot behind Palmer? Come one, for ****’s sake. Alzate came on and had a few decent touches but got knocked off the ball way too easy for my liking.

Other than Simons and Palmer (who is an attacking midfielder), who in midfield has any physicality?

I’ve seen nothing from Kamara to suggest he’s any better than Ebiowei, in any regard.

Meanwhile.josh murphy we were linked with on a free agent deal

Already has 4 goals n 4 assists for portsmouth

Kamara cost almost 5m..

I was at that game too.....ken knighton played for them....pretty sure he played for us in the rearranged game!!!.....so maybe the only player to play for both teams in the same fixture!!!!....might be wrong though!!!

I expected more with the new manager watching , I didn’t expect us to turn into world beaters but thought crowd would be more up for it and the players would be a lot more at it . It was just flat all around and same old same really , maybe that’s just the best these players can do and reality is they aren’t very good at football . Hope Selles has a magic wand to get them going

What a ****ing day. !!.....piss wet through before i got there and cold as ****....just miserable afternoon all round....the game lived up to the conditions i think....cant understand why palmer got took off either,he looked the only one interested....on the plus side i was in Northampton last weekend and its not a bad night out....handy to know for next season
