REGIS Le Bris is hoping Ian Poveda, Salid Abdul Samed and Ahmed Abdullahi are all fit to feature for Sunderland in the coming weeks, with the head coach saying the availability of the trio would be a welcome Christmas "gift"….

The head coach said: "I hope maybe in two or three weeks we are going to have some more solutions. Another winger in Ian Poveda, another midfielder with Salis, another striker with Ahmed. We could have one or two solutions in every position.

"I'm hoping that I will get some gifts around the Christmas period and we will have these players available, because it is important for the team to introduce some new energy and more competition in certain places. Romaine and Browney we hope will be available at the start of January."

We've had quite a few knocks, if you'll excuse the pun, but we're still up there and with half a dozen players still to come in. RLB seems to be quite clear on what he wants and which options are needed. As FellTop was saying it looks like we'll have a good second half of the season and, in my opinion, a better first team squad.

We've already had a 'new player' in Watson and there are more to come. Even players like Aouchiche, Jewi and Rusyn could play a part, if only as subs when we need them. I'd love to know what RLB's ideal starting line up would be ...

... I suspect he knows and it's slightly different to what we've seen, time will tell if we can avoid so many injuries.

Half the teams, at the SOL, would be crippled by this <laugh>

'Eight seconds for goalkeepers to release ball – or concede a corner.

Law-makers impressed by trial in Premier League’s u21 competition.'

League one would have been a year long set piece session

Le Bris also confirmed that Sunderland opted against appealing Chris Mepham's red card at Sheffield United, meaning the defender will now serve a one-match ban. Had Sunderland been successful in their appeal, Mepham would have been downgraded to a yellow card - and would still have missed Saturday's game given he was already on four yellows. Now, he'll sit out this weekend but when he returns the cut-off for five yellow cards will have passed, meaning he'll no longer be one caution away from a further one-game suspension.

That cut off has come quicker than I thought/read before? If that is true then Rigg and Trai and Jobe will also be back on a level 0 yellow cards after this weekend. I thought we were still a while away from that cut off but am happy to be wrong if true

That's the thing. IF we finally get to see these lads then they will be like 3 new signings. Let's hope they stand up to the plate. We can't just bloat the squad with more players unless we sell a few of the other fringe lads .

I am going for a maximum of 3 new players meaning striker, right wing and a fullback cover

Good news. Just tried to check and howe the hell has Roberts got so many yellow cards as a winger. You expect it from defenders and midfielders but that just cries out frustration for a winger to have so many.
A lot of it is reacting when he’s kicked and the opponent doesn’t get a yellow! The last one was for next to nothing! We seem to have, at home anyhow, a much lower yellow card bar than our opponents

I’m already seeing some of my pack thinking about giving this a miss. Haven’t missed one yet so I won’t be missing tomorrow either !

My first train leaves home at 7.15 so I won’t know what the weather’s like when I set off …

… just hope I don’t get halfway there before the delays start, or get stuck over there after the game.

Thanks again RTB.
Another performance like last weeks and we should have too much for Stoke, Cirkin back is a real boost we are so much better with him in the team. I am away this weekend so will miss this one but I am hoping to be in a pub with a pint to watch it. 2-0 win for me and a return to winning ways

It's worse out west, Welsh FA have postponed their full fixture list for tomorrow.
Might be a bit of overkill by the Met Office, not wanting to shown up by not giving these warnings out...who knows?...we'll find out tomorrow.
