The manager has to take the lion's share of responsibility for the team's performance, but some has to rest with the players. I don't see the same level of desire in our players like I do in other teams near the foot of the table. I don't see that determination to get first to the ball or get forward and join the attack or sprint back and pick up loose players. I don't know whether this is a lack of fitness or just not recognising what is actually going on around them. The manager has to get the right team for the position we find ourselves in, which could mean not picking the 'best' players. Maybe it's time to get Hamza back in midfield and get amongst the opposition and put some authority and pride into the performance and, just as important, get the fans 100% behind the team. Give them some evidence that we can perform.
We've got a seriously difficult fixture list coming up and the way we are playing doesn't give me much confidence that we'll pick up many points. In fact our season could be over by early new year. We need to get some fighting spirit in the team and show that we aren't a soft touch. First let's stop the ridiculous and naive defending (and that means all the way from the front) and stop the easy chances and goals going in. Then we might have a chance of building something from there.
