I could be but I'm not, none of the young bucks hanging around the front gate like a pack of dogs when they smell a dog on heat have got in yet.

I agree with much of that. I've watched some of his YouTube stuff but that was enough for me. My view is that if a person is full of hate, then whatever they write will never be from a place of truth.

Very few compared to the volume of hate speech we see on the streets. They may have been some arrested, but I have seen little evidence of them actually being charged and being made an example of.

That's not strictly true John... Councillor Ricky Jones was arrested and charged(irrespective of the fact that he got bail:emoticon-0136-giggl)...

I did what you suggested, I researched him before instinctively dismissing his views. But a gay man claiming that homophobia essentially no longer exists is incredibly strange.

:emoticon-0102-bigsm, unlike the people that were quickly charged and sent to prison, he is still on bail and has not been in court. Also, what about that guy Nick Lowes of Hope not hate, tweeted that there had been an acid attack, nothing happened to him, not even attested or charged.

From what I can see the law has been entirely consistent. The woman who was alleged to have started the false claims preceding the riot was also not charged, due to insufficient evidence that the story began with her. Lots of awful things did happen during the riots though, so I hope that you're even more concerned about those.

Goodness me. The confidence to say that whilst regurgitating the kind of beliefs that only exist because of the overly-platformed loudness of the biggest grifters in British society.

I have never condoned the riots, those that caused damage etc deserve to be punished. What I do not like is this waste IMO of police time chasing after people for posts they make or what they say. These none crime hate incident is right out of the Starsi play book, (not my words a judge's words who kicked out a case) which is a step too far for me. The police want to get back to doing what police do, catching thieves and doing something about knife crime etc.

It interesting, a lot of the people who were sent to prison pleaded guilty as that was what they were suggested to do, or they would have to be held on remand which would lengthen their time in custody before trial.

Some pleaded not guilty, they are now coming to court with a jury and a couple of cases so far have been found not guilty. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I just feel there is an overreach by the authorities and the police, but to be clear if someone cause a riot or say something which would directly incite violence, then they should be dealt with appropriately.

Obviously they came down hard but their reason for doing so is just as obvious.

There is no doubt doing that stopped further riots, but I can't help feeling it just pushed the problem under the carpet for the time being. I am at least happy to see even Starmer coming out now and saying the police should be policing the street not tweets.

There's a link, a very tenuous one mind! There's definitely a thread in the vicinity of this one that would be better suited for these posts though.

Consistent..... The labour MP who was filmed enticing murder and making gestures to show throats being cut was fast tracked through the courts just like the rioters wasn't he and kept under lock and key while his case was heard..... Oh hang on!

If that's consistent in your mind, then you either have issues and you're just willing to ignore facts that don't support your views

I don't know the details but I do know that they assess things case by case. I imagine that his safety was a concern at the time, as well as public order.

His safety haha, funny he wasn't thinking about the safety of the people he was referring to was he! He deserves to be behind bars just as the rioters do, no excuses
